Job Description:

· Environmental sanitary officers are responsible for monitoring and enforcing sanitary and hygiene legislation .

· They also investigate when there's an incident, such as a toxic contamination, pest infestation or an outbreak.

· Guide waste disposal (solid, liquid and sewage) appropriately and supervise with minimum harm to the workplace

· Supervise and apply the principles of natural and mechanical ventilation, as needed.

· Supervise and implement techniques of sterilization and disinfection.

· Supervise and conduct survey in housing colonies to assess sanitary standards and prescribe corrective measures.

· Supervise and guide implementation of measures to prevent communicable diseases with

· respect to sanitation and hygiene

· Supervise/ assist in or independently conduct disinfection of areas.

· Conduct awareness programmes on personal hygiene and health education

· Supervise/conduct visits to various establishments for assessment of cleanliness and hygienic practices and ensure the desirable standards are maintained.

· Supervise/ maintain general & systemic cleanliness including critical care and non-critical care areas.





· Maintaining record register and ensuring implementation of Sanitation policy of the institution/ community as per the Government norms and guidelines.

· Follow the appropriate procedures, policies and protocols for the method of collection and containment level according to the waste type.

· Apply appropriate health and safety measures and standard precautions for infection.

· prevention and control and personal protective equipment relevant to the type and

· category of waste.

· Check the accuracy of the labelling that identifies the type and content of waste.

· Confirm suitability of containers for any required course of action appropriate to the

· type of waste disposal.

· Check the waste has undergone the required processes to make it safe for transport and

· disposal.

· Transport the waste to the disposal site, taking into consideration its associated risks.

· Report and deal with spillages and contamination in accordance with current legislation

· and procedures.

· Maintain full, accurate and legible records of information and store in correct location in line with current legislation, guidelines, local policies and protocols.
