Operations Manager

HealthyChef is a subscription-based healthy meal service in Bengaluru, built around high-variety, nutritionally differentiated meal plans and a dedicated nutritionist for every subscriber. We're looking for an Operations Manager to take ownership of Delivery, Purchases, and Facilities — and to build the systems, SOPs, and controls that let these functions run without depending on any one person.

This is a builder's role. You'll inherit a well-run operation and be trusted to make it scalable — with the eventual goal of replicating our kitchen operations in a new city.

The Mandate

Own end-to-end operations across Delivery, Purchases, and Facilities. Go beyond keeping things running — build the playbooks, vendor systems, and performance tracking that make operations scalable and independent of any single person. This role comes with real authority to enforce standards and compliance, not just flag issues upward.

What You'll Own

Delivery Operations

- Manage the delivery team across morning and evening slots
- Assign and reshuffle delivery routes for new and existing customers
- Coordinate 3PL backup when delivery staff are unavailable
- Act as the real-time point of contact for delivery staff resolving on-route issues
- Confirm delivery serviceability for new locations, working with the sales team
- Recruit delivery staff for recent routes or to cover attrition
- Process weekly delivery staff payments
- Build and enforce delivery SLAs — track on-time performance, set escalation steps for repeated delays, and standardize onboarding for new delivery hires

Purchases & Procurement

- Collect requirements from chefs across groceries, meat, eggs, packaging, consumables, bakery, and small asset purchases




- Procure through online and local vendor channels, including urgent quick-commerce orders
- Manage vendor payments
- Build a vendor evaluation framework (price, quality, reliability) with identified backups for critical inputs
- Set purchase approval thresholds and track spend and wastage trends

Facilities

- Ensure continuity of utilities — water, electricity
- Manage equipment repairs and maintenance
- Maintain an asset register and a preventive maintenance schedule

Reporting & Compliance

- Track and report delayed meals and total meals delivered
- Expand reporting to include cost-per-delivery, vendor spend by category, wastage %, and delivery staff performance
- Hold explicit authority to enforce standards — vendor quality, delivery SLAs, hygiene compliance — independently

What Success Looks Like

- 30 days: Running existing operations end-to-end with no founder involvement in day-to-day execution
- 60 days: Core SOPs documented for delivery, procurement, and facilities; backup vendors identified for critical inputs
- 90 days: A live reporting dashboard beyond today's two metrics, and at least one instance of independently enforcing a standard

You're a Strong Fit If You Have

- Experience in cloud kitchen operations, QSR central commissary, institutional catering, or a meal-subscription startup
- A track record of building SOPs, vendor systems, or processes from scratch — not just running ones that already exist
- Comfort taking ownership and making a call, rather than escalating every exception
- Strong vendor negotiation and people-management instincts

Note: a traditional restaurant GM background is not the right fit for this role — we're looking for systems and scale thinking, not front-of-house service management.

Pay: ₹25,000.00 - ₹35,000.00 per month
