What Youll Be Doing (position summary):

Application Engineering Shared Platform Technology is at the heart of CIBCs digital transformation, delivering complex, enterprise-scale projects involving multiple back-end systems. The group is responsible for assembling, implementing, and maintaining flexible and personalized solutions that enhance the client experience across multiple digital platforms.

How Youll Succeed (responsibilities):

The Senior Developer is accountable for leading the planning, strategy, technical design, development, and integration of back-end services across CIBC enterprise applications/platforms. This role is focused on delivering innovative and cost-effective solutions, ensuring the successful execution of complex, enterprise-scale projects that drive CIBCs digital transformation and enhance client experiences.

Who You Are (skills/qualifications):

Design and Development:

- Perform and coordinate complex application programming activities.
- Design technical infrastructure using specific databases, programming languages, utilities, and testing approaches.
- Lead the design and development of cost-effective and creative solutions to meet business needs.

Strategic Planning:

- Develop multi-year technology roadmaps aligned with CIBCs vision, strategy, and business goals.
- Lead multiple complex projects involving backend systems, new technology, and the enhancement of existing applications.

Leadership Skills:

- Act as the Development team lead, running code-review sessions with the wider team to ensure projects are on track.
- Support and mentor intermediate and senior developers, sharing knowledge and collaborating to solve problems.

CROSS-FUNCTIONAL RELATIONSHIPS:

- Collaborates regularly with peers and stakeholders inside and outside the SPT team to identify, discuss, and resolve business issues related to mobile application development.
- Interacts with other technology teams, business partners, and external vendors to define requirements, establish service level agreements, and ensure successful delivery of solutions.

JOB DIMENSIONS

- Scope includes enterprise-scale projects involving multiple back-end systems and digital platforms.
- Provides technical leadership for mobile development teams, mentoring intermediate and senior developers.
- Advisory role in technology strategy and roadmap development for SPT.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:

Education:Bachelors degree or equivalent in Computer Science or Technical discipline.

Must have skills:

- 7+ years experience in Microservices architecture, Java/J2EE, REST and gRPC APIs, Quarkus, Spring Boot, JSON , RDBMS/SQL, Docker/PodMan, Maven/Gradle, Postman, Junit, Jenkins, CI/CD pipelines, GIT, OpenAPI/Swagger, OAuth2/JWT.
- Strong client focus, goal orientation, relationship building, communication, collaboration, and passion for continuous learning.

Nice to have:

- Fluency in Object Oriented Design, structured Software Delivery Life Cycle (SDLC), and Agile environments is an asset.
- Banking Domain knowledge.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

This role operates within a normal office environment with little exposure to adverse working conditions.
