Job Description
The Program Officer (Parent Engagement and FLN Outreach) is a field-facing role that drives grassroots adoption of the home learning programme in Maharashtra's government primary schools. This role involves regular, structured engagement with district and block-level education administration — District Education Officers, Block Education Officers (BEOs), DIET faculty, and school principals — to ensure the NIPUN Maharashtra parent engagement module is understood, prioritised, and actively implemented at the school level.
You will conduct trainings, mobilise parents and teachers, support school-level Teacher-Parent Meetings, and coordinate implementation across your assigned geographies. This is a hands-on, travelintensive role that rewards people who thrive in field settings and are motivated by direct impact on children's foundational learning.
A core function of this role is regular coordination with District Education Officers, BEOs, DIET faculty, and principals. You are expected to be a reliable, professional presence within the government education system in your assigned districts.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate regularly with District Education Officers, Block Education Officers (BEOs), and DIET faculty to schedule, plan, and embed parent engagement trainings within government school calendars and review cycles.
- Conduct orientation and training sessions for principals, teachers, and BEOs on the parent engagement features of the NIPUN Maharashtra app — including the parent dashboard, home activity assignments, TPM documentation, and child FLN report cards.
- Facilitate Teacher-Parent Meetings (TPMs) at school level, supporting teachers in presenting child-level FLN data to parents and activating families in home learning activities.
- Build awareness among parents — particularly first-generation smartphone users — for the parent login experience, gamified home activities,
and FLN progress tracking available through NIPUN Maharashtra.
- Coordinate with DIET faculty and cluster resource centres to integrate the home learning model into existing government training and support structures at block and cluster levels.
- Collect and compile structured field feedback on usability, content quality, and adoption barriers of the parent module; share inputs with the product team for iteration.
- Maintain district-level data on school coverage, TPM documentation rates, parent activation, and engagement metrics; submit reports as per programme timelines.
- Support the State Catalyst in preparing training materials, case studies, and documentation
What We Are Looking For
- 2 to 4 years of experience in field-based education programme implementation, with some exposure to working with or alongside district or block-level government education departments — BEOs, DEOs, DIET, or school principals.
- Demonstrated ability to engage professionally and constructively with government functionaries in a field context.
- Genuine interest in foundational learning and in the role of parents as learning partners for young children.
- Robust facilitation and communication skills in Marathi; working knowledge of Hindi and basic English required.
- Comfortable with mobile technology; ability to demonstrate and troubleshoot app features for teachers and parents on Android devices.
- Willingness to travel extensively within assigned districts (50% field time expected).
- Proactive, self-organised, and able to manage field schedules and government coordination with minimal supervision.
