Job Responsibilities

- Manage, organize, and maintain the school library’s collection of books, digital resources, periodicals, and multimedia materials.
- Develop and implement library policies, procedures, and user guidelines aligned with BHIS’s educational objectives.
- Provide support and instruction to students, faculty, and staff in locating, evaluating, and using information resources effectively.
- Plan, coordinate, and promote reading programs, author visits, literary events, and literacy initiatives that complement the school’s curriculum.
- Oversee acquisition, cataloguing, and weeding processes to ensure a current, relevant, and diverse collection.
- Maintain accurate records of library usage, inventory, and statistical reports for administration review.
- Manage library technology, including integrated library systems (ILS), e‑resources platforms, and digital lending services.
- Supervise and mentor library assistants, student volunteers, and interns.
- Collaborate with teachers to integrate library resources into lesson plans and project‑based learning.
- Ensure a safe, welcoming environment that encourages independent reading and research.





Essential Qualifications

- Master’s degree in Library Science (MLIS) or equivalent qualification.
- Professional certification from a recognized library association (e.g., Indian Library Association).
- Excellent knowledge of cataloguing standards (e.g., AACR2, RDA, MARC).
- Strong communication skills—both spoken and written—in English.
- Proficiency with library management software and digital resource platforms.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a multicultural educational environment.

Desired Experience

- Minimum 3–5 years of experience managing a school or academic library.
- Demonstrated experience in developing literacy programs and promoting reading culture among K‑12 students.
- Familiarity with ICSE, IGCSE, and CBSE curricula is advantageous.
- Experience in training teachers and students in information literacy and research skills.
- Exposure to emerging library technologies, e‑books, and online learning resources.
