Product Designer
About the Role
MyYogaTeacher helps people improve their health and well-being through live, personalized yoga. We connect students worldwide with experienced yoga teachers in India for one-on-one sessions tailored to their health goals, lifestyle, preferences, and experience level.
We have served more than 200,000 customers and conduct thousands of live sessions across multiple countries and time zones.
We're looking for a hands-on Product Designer who can deeply understand customer problems, simplify complex journeys, make practical design decisions, and collaborate closely with product and engineering teams from concept to launch. You should thrive in a quick-moving environment where priorities evolve and not every problem comes with a detailed brief. We value designers who ask thoughtful questions, speak with customers, explore solutions quickly, and stay involved until the final experience is shipped.
What You'll Own
Understanding Our Students
- Build a deep understanding of students goals, motivations, concerns, habits, and expectations.
- Speak regularly with prospective students, active customers, churned customers, teachers, sales, and support teams.
- Use customer conversations, support tickets, sales calls, product data, session feedback, and usability testing to identify problems.
- Understand how different customer segments use the product and where they experience friction.
- Help maintain customer personas and journey maps while keeping student needs at the center of every design decision.
Product & Experience Design
- Design end-to-end experiences across web and mobile products.
- Translate customer problems and business goals into user flows, wireframes, prototypes, and high-fidelity designs.
- Design journeys including teacher discovery, trial booking, onboarding, scheduling, subscriptions, payments, session attendance, engagement, and retention.
- Simplify complex workflows for users with different levels of technical comfort.
- Consider the complete customer journey, including loading, empty, error, interruption, and recovery states.
- Maintain consistency across the product while balancing usability, business goals, technical constraints, and execution speed.
Research & Validation
- Conduct customer interviews, usability tests, prototype reviews, and concept testing.
- Validate assumptions before significant development investment.
- Test with relevant customer segments and convert insights into actionable product recommendations.
- Share research findings clearly with product, engineering, and business teams.
- Help establish lightweight research practices that support fast execution.
Execution & Delivery
- Partner with product managers and engineers from problem definition through launch.
- Contribute to prioritization, technical discussions, and solution design.
- Create detailed designs covering interactions, flows, responsive behavior,
and implementation guidance.
- Stay involved throughout development, resolve design trade-offs, review implementations, and improve experiences after launch using customer feedback and product data.
- Take ownership of outcomes, not just design files.
Product Thinking
- Explore multiple approaches before selecting a solution.
- Use sketches, wireframes, and prototypes to evaluate ideas quickly.
- Make practical decisions even with incomplete information.
- Clearly explain design reasoning, trade-offs, and assumptions.
- Balance research with execution and focus on solving the most important customer problems.
- Help identify smaller, testable product improvements.
Product Quality & Design Systems
- Contribute to and improve the design system across web and mobile.
- Build reusable components and patterns with engineering teams.
- Ensure usability, accessibility, responsiveness, visual quality, and implementation consistency.
- Improve inconsistent experiences while balancing standardization with experimentation.
Data-Informed Design
- Use analytics, funnels, customer feedback, session recordings, heatmaps, and experiments to understand user behavior.
- Identify drop-offs and friction points.
- Define expected outcomes with product and analytics teams.
- Combine quantitative and qualitative insights to guide design decisions and measure post-launch impact.
Collaboration
- Work closely with product, engineering, analytics, marketing, sales, support, and operations.
- Build shared understanding of customer problems.
- Communicate clearly with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Ask questions early, challenge assumptions constructively, and resolve disagreements using customer evidence, business context, and practical judgment.
Using Modern Tools
- Use modern design and productivity tools to improve speed and quality.
- Leverage AI for research synthesis, competitive analysis, concept exploration, content drafts, edge-case identification, and documentation while applying your own judgment.
- Stay current with evolving design workflows, interaction patterns, and prototyping approaches.
What You Bring
- 3–6 years of experience in Product Design, UX Design, or Interaction Design.
- Experience designing consumer-facing web and mobile products.
- Strong portfolio demonstrating problem-solving, design decisions, collaboration with engineering, and shipped outcomes.
- Strong understanding of user flows, interaction design, information architecture, usability, and visual hierarchy.
- Hands-on experience with Figma and prototyping tools.
- Experience conducting customer interviews, usability testing, or product research.
- Ability to solve ambiguous problems with limited requirements.
- Strong attention to detail while maintaining execution speed.
- Comfort using product data and customer feedback to make decisions.
- Positive understanding of responsive web and mobile design.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience collaborating closely with product and engineering teams.
What Makes You Stand Out
- You regularly speak with customers and understand their needs.
- You can turn ambiguous problems into practical, shipped solutions.
- You focus on customer journeys before visual design.
- You explore multiple solutions before deciding.
- You're comfortable making decisions with incomplete information.
- You understand customer behavior, business metrics, technical constraints, and usability.
- You closely support implementation and have contributed to measurable improvements in conversion, onboarding, engagement, retention, usability, or customer satisfaction.
- Experience in marketplaces, subscriptions, health & wellness, education, communication, or behavior-change products.
- Passion for health, wellness, yoga, or helping people build better habits.
Bonus Points
- Experience designing real-time video, communication, scheduling, or marketplace products.
- Experience with subscriptions, payments, lifecycle engagement, or plan selection.
- Knowledge of accessibility and inclusive design.
- Experience building design systems with engineering teams.
- Familiarity with HTML, CSS, React, or frontend concepts.
- Experience with A/B testing, experimentation, Microsoft Clarity, Mixpanel, Amplitude, FullStory, or similar tools.
- Public writing, talks, case studies, or open-source contributions related to product design.
This Role May Not Be a Good Fit If
- You prefer fully defined requirements before starting.
- You see design only as creating screens.
- You don't enjoy speaking with customers.
- You prioritize visual novelty over usability and business impact.
- You require lengthy design cycles or multiple approvals.
- You're uncomfortable making decisions with incomplete information, adapting to changing priorities, reviewing implementations, or iterating based on customer feedback and data.
How We Work
- We operate in small, high-ownership teams with minimal bureaucracy.
- Product, design, engineering, analytics, and operations collaborate from the start.
- Designers are expected to understand customers, business goals, and technical context.
- We ship frequently, learn from customer feedback, and continuously improve.
- Customer conversations are a regular part of the role.
- We value clear thinking, direct communication, quick decisions, ownership, and strong follow-through.
