The Assistant Medical Superintendent should supports the Medical Director in managing the clinical operations of the hospital. You will be responsible for ensuring high standards of patient care, optimizing clinical workflows, managing the medical staff, and ensuring compliance with healthcare regulations (such as NABH ). You will act as a key liaison between the hospital’s administrative leadership and the clinical teams.
Key Responsibilities1. Clinical Quality & Patient Safety
- Quality Assurance: Monitor and improve clinical outcomes, patient safety protocols, and infection control measures.
- Protocol Development: Assist in designing and implementing standardized clinical pathways and treatment protocols.
- Incident Management: Review medical errors, patient grievances, and adverse events, and implement corrective actions.
2. Medical Staff Management
- Credentialing: Assist in the recruitment, credentialing, and onboarding of new physicians and specialists.
- Performance Review: Conduct peer reviews and evaluate the clinical performance of the medical staff.
- Conflict Resolution: Mediate disputes between clinical staff, nursing teams, and administration to maintain a collaborative environment.
- Continuing Education:
Organize and oversee Continuing Medical Education (CME) programs and training for the medical staff.
3. Administration & Operations
- Workflow Optimization: Work with department heads to improve patient flow, reduce wait times, and optimize bed utilization.
- Committee Leadership: Chair or participate in key hospital committees, such as the Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee, Quality Assurance Committee, or Ethics Committee.
- Strategic Planning: Assist the executive team in planning expansions, introducing new clinical services, or upgrading medical technology.
4. Regulatory Compliance & Resource Management
- Compliance: Ensure the hospital strictly adheres to state medical council guidelines, National Medical Commission (NMC) regulations, and accreditation standards.
- Utilization Management: Review the use of hospital resources (e.g., diagnostic tests, length of stay, pharmacy usage) to ensure cost-effective and evidence-based care.
Required Qualifications & Experience
- Educational Background: A medical degree either MBBS , BDS, BHMS , BAMS . A degree or diploma in Hospital Administration (MHA or MBA in Healthcare Management) is highly preferred.
- Licensure: Valid and active registration with the State Medical Council or National Medical Commission.
- Clinical Experience: Minimum of 2-5 years of active clinical practice.
- Leadership Experience: Prior experience in a supervisory role, such as Head of Department (HOD) or clinical lead, for at least 2–3 years.
