Job Description – Purchase Engineer (Press & Weld Shop)

Position: Purchase Engineer

Job Summary

The Purchase Engineer is responsible for sourcing and procuring raw materials, consumables, and bought-out parts required for Press Shop and Weld Shop operations while ensuring quality, cost-effectiveness, and timely delivery.

Key Responsibilities

Procure raw materials such as CRCA sheets, HR sheets, MS, GI, SS, and other steel materials.

Purchase welding consumables, gases, fasteners, tools, and maintenance items.

Source bought-out components as per production requirements.

Develop and maintain relationships with approved vendors.

Obtain quotations, compare prices, negotiate rates, and finalize purchase orders.

Ensure timely procurement to avoid production delays.

Coordinate with Production, PPC, Quality, and Stores departments for material planning.

Monitor inventory levels and maintain optimum stock.

Track supplier performance regarding quality, delivery, and cost.

Handle purchase documentation, GRN follow-up, invoices, and vendor payments.





Support vendor development and cost reduction initiatives.

Ensure compliance with ISO/IATF documentation and procurement procedures.

Required Skills

Knowledge of Press Shop and Weld Shop materials and processes.

Understanding of sheet metal, laser cutting, bending, welding consumables, and fabrication components.

Strong negotiation and vendor management skills.

Material planning and inventory control.

Knowledge of ERP/SAP/Tally or other procurement software.

Positive communication and analytical skills.

Proficiency in MS Excel and MS Office.

Qualification

Diploma/B.E. in Mechanical, Production, or Industrial Engineering.

Experience

2–5 years of experience in Purchase within a Press Shop, Sheet Metal, Fabrication, or Weld Shop manufacturing environment.

IATF 16949 / ISO 9001 documentation

Pay: ₹30,000.00 - ₹50,000.00 per month
