Survey Drafting Consultant
Job Title: Survey Drafting Consultant
Overview
We are seeking an experienced Survey Drafting Consultant to support US-based land
development projects. The consultant will work independently or alongside internal teams
to process survey data, develop accurate base maps, and deliver high-quality CAD outputs
in compliance with US standards such as ALTA/NSPS and client-specific requirements.
Responsibilities
- Process raw survey data (field files, point data, LiDAR, GIS inputs) into CAD
deliverables
- Prepare topographic surveys, boundary surveys, and ALTA/NSPS land title surveys
- Generate surfaces, contours, and break lines using AutoCAD Civil 3D
- Perform boundary plotting using deeds, plats, and legal descriptions
- Develop utility mapping (storm, sewer, water)
with accurate labelling and
connectivity
- Execute Scan-to-CAD workflows using Autodesk Recap
- Integrate GIS datasets using QGIS or ArcGIS
- Follow client CAD standards, layering conventions, and naming protocols
- Perform QA/QC checks and ensure accuracy of deliverables
Required Experience & Skills
- 5+ years of experience in survey drafting for US land development projects
- Strong expertise in AutoCAD Civil 3D and AutoCAD
- Proven experience handling:
- Topographic surveys
- ALTA/NSPS surveys
- Utility mapping
- Robust understanding of:
- COGO (bearings, distances, closures)
- Surface creation and contour generation
- Point coding and field-to-finish workflows
- Ability to interpret survey field data, plats, and legal descriptions
- Familiarity with US coordinate systems (State Plane, NAVD88)
Preferred Skills
- Experience with LiDAR workflows and tools like Terrasolid or LAStools
- Exposure to Scan-to-BIM workflows using Autodesk Revit
- Experience with GIS workflows and data handling
