Reporting to: Head – Quality / NPD

Role Purpose

To ensure that gas stove designs meet quality, safety, reliability, regulatory

(BIS/BEE), and customer requirements from concept stage to mass production,

preventing quality issues through robust design validation and risk management.

Key Responsibilities

1. Design Quality & Validation

 Review product designs (2B, 3B, 4B gas stoves – SS, Glass, GTS) for

quality, safety, and manufacturability

 Ensure DFMEA is conducted and updated at every design change

 Validate critical-to-quality (CTQ) parameters for burners, pan supports,

frames, valves, glass, mixing tubes, etc.

 Define and approve design specifications, tolerances, and material

standards

2. Regulatory & Compliance

 Ensure compliance with BIS (IS 4246:2002 / 2025) and related amendments

 Support BEE star rating readiness (flow rate, burner configuration,

documentation)

 Coordinate with labs for type testing, NABL reports, BIS inclusion

 Ensure RoHS and other statutory requirements are met as applicable

3. New Product Development (NPD) Support

 Participate from concept, prototype, pilot (N100), and mass production

 Approve pilot builds and ensure design readiness before mass production

 Define validation plans (DV, PV) and acceptance criteria

 Support engineering change management (ECN/ECR)

4. Supplier Design Quality





 Review and approve supplier drawings, tools, jigs, and fixtures

 Conduct supplier audits focused on design & process capability

 Ensure part approval through PPAP / First Article Inspection (FAI)

 Drive cost optimization without compromising quality

5. Reliability & Field Quality

 Define and monitor reliability tests (thermal, load, endurance, corrosion)

 Analyze field failures, warranty returns, and customer complaints

 Lead root cause analysis (RCA) and implement corrective actions

 Ensure lessons learned are fed back into design standards

6. Documentation & Systems

 Maintain design quality documents:

o DFMEA

o Control Plans (Design stage)

o Test protocols & reports

o Design review minutes

 Support ISO 9001 / QMS audits related to design quality

Key Skills & Competencies

 Robust knowledge of gas stove design & components

 Hands-on experience with BIS & BEE standards

 Expertise in DFMEA, DVP&R;, PPAP, APQP

 Ability to read and review 2D drawings & 3D CAD data

 Problem-solving mindset with structured tools (5 Why, Fishbone, etc.)

 Good communication with cross-functional teams & customers

Qualifications & Experience

 BE / BTech – Mechanical / Production / Industrial Engineering

 5–10 years experience in Gas Stove / LPG Appliance industry

 Experience in OEM / ODM / Private Label projects preferred
