A meaningful clinical role for a compassionate physician committed to delivering quality general medical care within a residential mental health setting, three days a week.

About the Role

The General Physician at The Banyan’s ECRC will provide comprehensive medical care to residents living with mental illness and complex physical health needs. The role involves day-to-day clinical management, collaboration with the psychiatry team, and a commitment to holistic, person-centred care.This is a deeply purposeful position situated within a values-driven residential care setting.

Key Responsibilities

1. Clinical Assessment & Medical Management
Conduct daily medical rounds; assess, diagnose, and manage acute and chronic physical health conditions among residents.

2. Multidisciplinary Team Collaboration
Work alongside psychiatrists, nurses, and social workers to deliver integrated, person-centred care plans.

3. Emergency Response & Hospital Coordination




Manage medical emergencies; coordinate hospital referrals, admissions, and follow-up care.

4. Medication & Treatment Oversight
Prescribe and review medications; monitor treatment responses; ensure safe medication management practices.

5. Documentation & Clinical Records
Maintain accurate and timely medical records; prepare referral letters, case summaries, and clinical reports.

The role also involves participating in care reviews, supporting health education for staff, and contributing to quality improvement and audit processes within the ECRC.

Eligibility

- MBBS; PG qualification (MD / DNB) preferred
- Valid registration with Medical Council
- Experience in general medicine or residential / community care settings
- Sensitivity to mental health, gender, and social dimensions of care
- Fluency in Malayalam preferred; Tamil and English an advantage
