Position Overview:

We are seeking a talented and experienced Book Designer with a strong background in book designing and publishing. The ideal candidate will have a passion for creating visually appealing and reader-friendly book layouts. A deep understanding of the publishing process and a proven track record in using Adobe InDesign are essential for this role. The designer will work closely with authors, editors, and the production team to produce high-quality books that meet industry standards and captivate readers.

Key Responsibilities:

Book Layout and Design:

- Develop creative and engaging book designs, including covers and interiors, that align with the content and target audience.
- Work on various genres, including fiction, non-fiction, textbooks, and more.
- Ensure designs are aligned with the brand guidelines and vision of the publisher or author.

Typesetting and Formatting:

- Handle typesetting and formatting of text and images to ensure readability and visual appeal.
- Customize layouts for both print and digital formats, ensuring consistency across all versions.

Collaboration and Communication:

- Collaborate with authors, editors, and other stakeholders to understand their vision and incorporate their feedback into the design process.
- Communicate effectively with the production team to ensure the timely delivery of high-quality final files.

Quality Assurance:





- Review proofs and final layouts to ensure accuracy and adherence to design specifications.
- Conduct pre-press checks and prepare files for printing or digital distribution.

Project Management:

- Manage multiple design projects simultaneously, ensuring deadlines are met without compromising quality.
- Keep up-to-date with industry trends and best practices in book design and publishing.

Qualifications:

- Minimum of 2 years of experience in book design and publishing.
- Proven experience in designing book covers and interiors across various genres.

Skills:

- Proficiency in Adobe InDesign is mandatory.
- Robust knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator).
- Excellent typography and layout design skills.
- Familiarity with pre-press and print production processes.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
- Strong attention to detail and a keen eye for aesthetics.

Education:

- A degree or diploma in Graphic Design, Visual Arts, or a related field is preferred.

Additional Requirements:

- Portfolio showcasing relevant book design work.
- Understanding of different publishing formats, including print, eBooks, and audiobooks.
- Familiarity with industry standards and trends in book design.
