Job Summary

The Senior Resident / Registrar – Pediatrics is responsible for providing comprehensive medical care to neonates, infants, children, and adolescents. The role includes inpatient and outpatient management, emergency care, NICU/PICU support, coordination with consultants, and ensuring quality patient care in accordance with hospital protocols.

Key ResponsibilitiesClinical Care

- Evaluate, diagnose, and manage pediatric patients in OPD, IPD, Emergency, NICU, and PICU.
- Perform daily ward rounds and document patient progress.
- Stabilize critically ill children and newborns before consultant review.
- Develop and implement treatment plans under consultant supervision.
- Manage pediatric emergencies and neonatal resuscitation.

Patient Management

- Admit, review, and discharge patients with proper documentation.
- Counsel parents regarding diagnosis, treatment plans, and follow-up care.
- Coordinate referrals and multidisciplinary care when required.

NICU & PICU Support

- Assist consultants in NICU/PICU procedures and patient management.




- Monitor ventilated and critically ill pediatric patients.
- Participate in neonatal and pediatric emergency response.

Documentation & Compliance

- Maintain accurate medical records and discharge summaries.
- Ensure compliance with NABH standards, infection control protocols, and patient safety guidelines.
- Report adverse events and clinical incidents as per hospital policy.

Academic & Quality Activities

- Participate in CMEs, case presentations, mortality meetings, and departmental audits.
- Mentor junior doctors and interns when assigned.
- Stay updated with current pediatric guidelines and evidence-based practices.

Coordination

- Work closely with Pediatric Consultants, Obstetricians, Neonatologists, Nursing teams, Laboratory, Radiology, and Pharmacy.
- Ensure smooth communication during patient handovers.

Required Skills

- Strong clinical knowledge in Pediatrics and Neonatology.
- Ability to manage pediatric and neonatal emergencies.
- Excellent communication and counseling skills.
- Teamwork and interdisciplinary collaboration.
- Sound clinical judgment and decision-making.
- Positive documentation and EMR/HMS knowledge.
- Willingness to work in rotational shifts and emergency duties.
