You will work in the R&D; team to design and develop mechanical enclosures, assemblies, and thermal structures for EV charging systems (AC & DC chargers). The role focuses on design, simulation, prototyping, and product development for high-power electronic equipment.
Key Responsibilities Mechanical Design
- Design EV charger enclosures, cabinets, and structural parts
- Create 3D CAD models, assemblies, and detailed drawings
- Work on sheet metal design, plastic parts, and mounting structures
- Ensure proper IP rating (dust/water protection) and ruggedness
Thermal & Simulation
- Perform thermal analysis (heat dissipation of power electronics)
- Use tools like SolidWorks / ANSYS for simulation
- Optimize airflow, cooling systems (fan/heat sink design)
Prototyping & Testing
- Support prototype development and validation
- Conduct fitment, vibration, and environmental testing
- Improve designs based on test feedback
Manufacturing Support
- Prepare BOM (Bill of Materials)
and manufacturing drawings
- Coordinate with vendors for fabrication and production
- Ensure design for manufacturability (DFM)
Collaboration
- Work closely with electrical, firmware, and power electronics teams
- Support system integration of mechanical + electrical components
- Participate in R&D; discussions for new product development
Skills Required
- SolidWorks (must-have)
- Basic ANSYS / thermal simulation knowledge
- Sheet metal & enclosure design experience
- Understanding of heat transfer, materials, and mechanical strength
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes (laser cutting, bending, injection molding)
- GD&T; basics (preferred)
Qualification
- BE / B.Tech / ME in Mechanical Engineering
Industry Focus
- EV charging systems (3.3 kW to 360 kW chargers)
- Power electronics enclosures
- Industrial product design
