WSP is seeking a Senior Water Resources Engineer to join our large and growing technical support team in Bengaluru. The role involves working closely with our global Mining Team. The successful applicant will undertake specialised analyses and studies related to hydrology and hydrotechnical aspects of mining water projects. The work will be carried out under the direction of a global team of mining, geotechnical and civil engineering professionals. The applicant will report to the Mining Team Leader as part of WSP's GCC-IN Global Mining Team. The goal is to deliver high standards of technical work and contribute to the ongoing success of mining projects by supporting client-focused project delivery. Close collaboration with WSP's mining leaders and project teams will be a key aspect of the role. Technical responsibilities will include hydrotechnical studies, data review, model development, analysis, design inputs and preparation of report contributions related to mine water projects.

Responsibilities

• Undertake water resource management studies for mining projects from conceptual design through to implementation support and optimisation.
• Develop and use modelling and simulation tools to predict water-related risks and evaluate mitigation measures, supporting data-driven decision-making for clients.
• Support evaluations of mine tailings dam integrity, including computer-aided modelling for dam-break scenarios.
• Conduct hydrological studies, including desk-based research, conceptual, analytical and numerical modelling, and analysis of input/output uncertainties.
• Conduct storm analysis,



hydraulic computations and 1D/2D hydraulic simulation to estimate flood flows and assess risks, including preliminary design and cost estimation for flood mitigation measures at mining sites.
• Contribute to the design of mine water management infrastructure from feasibility through to detailed civil engineering stages.
• Provide technical support, mentoring and guidance to junior engineers, contributing to knowledge sharing within the firm.
• Prepare technical reports, documentation and presentations for clients, clearly communicating project outcomes, findings and recommendations.
• Support project management activities, including report and proposal inputs, client coordination, programme tracking and guidance to team members.

Mandatory Skills
• Experience undertaking flood-related studies for environmental assessments and infrastructure design projects across a range of sectors, with particular focus on Mining, Water and Urban Development sectors desirable.
• Total experience: 7+ years in water resources / hydrotechnical engineering.
• Solid knowledge of hydrology, hydraulics and water quality modelling practices and guidelines. Proficiency in relevant Australian guidelines is preferred.
• Experience in software used for hydrology and hydraulic models such as TUFLOW, ICM, HEC-RAS and associated GIS software programs such as QGIS.




• Excellent analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills, with demonstrated ability to apply them to water resources challenges.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills for collaboration with diverse project teams and stakeholders.

Desired Skills
• Track record of successfully delivering water-related projects or work packages.
• Ability to meet client needs while working within programme and budgetary constraints.
• Proven technical capability in the civil / water resources engineering field, with sound understanding of project delivery requirements.
• Ability to provide technical guidance to junior engineers and contribute to team capability development.
• Experience supporting water resources engineers and mining business teams based outside India.
• Ability to challenge the status quo and apply innovation in day-to-day work.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Water Resources Engineering or a related discipline is required.
• Master's degree in Water Resources Engineering is preferred.
• Professional experience of 7+ years in water resources engineering.
• Experience in an international project delivery context is preferred.
