Role Description The Optometrist will provide comprehensive eye examinations, including refraction, binocular vision assessment, and ocular health screening for patients using Forus Health's advanced diagnostic devices. The role includes performing and interpreting retinal imaging, supporting early detection of ocular diseases, and collaborating with ophthalmologists and clinical teams on diagnosis and care plans. The Optometrist will educate patients on eye health, preventive care, and treatment options, and ensure accurate documentation of clinical findings in accordance with established protocols.
Responsibilities also involve calibrating and operating imaging and refraction equipment, maintaining high standards of clinical quality, and supporting clinical evaluations of current technologies. This is a full-time, on-site role based in Chennai.
Qualifications
- Professional qualification in Optometry (Bachelor's or Master's in Optometry or equivalent) from a recognized institution.
- Strong clinical skills in refraction, binocular vision assessment, and contact lens fitting.
- Experience in ocular disease screening and interpretation of retinal images, including conditions such as diabetic retinopathy and glaucoma.
- Ability to operate and manage ophthalmic diagnostic equipment and imaging systems; familiarity with digital or AI-enabled platforms is an advantage.
- Effective communication and patient counseling skills, with the ability to explain clinical findings in clear, accessible language.
- Attention to detail, strong clinical documentation practices, and adherence to ethical and regulatory standards.
- Ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary clinical and technology teams in a fast-paced environment.
- Prior experience in hospital, clinic, or vision center settings; exposure to tele-ophthalmology or community eye screening programs is a plus.
- Willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies, imaging modalities, and AI-driven diagnostic tools.
