Role Overview:As a Manager Software Engineering in Bangalore at ACI, you will lead a diverse and passionate team dedicated to powering the worlds payments ecosystem. Your role involves being a first-level people leader who is responsible for guiding a team of software engineers to deliver high-quality software solutions while also nurturing their technical and qualified growth. Reporting to a Director of Software Engineering, you will balance hands-on technical contributions with effective people management to ensure the team excels in executing product roadmaps while upholding engineering excellence, fostering collaboration, and driving continuous improvement.Key Responsibilities:- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of 10-15 software engineers across various experience levels.- Conduct regular 1-on-1s focused on career development, feedback, and goal progress.- Set clear performance expectations and provide constructive feedback through ongoing coaching.- Manage performance improvement plans and make necessary personnel decisions.- Create individual development plans aligned with career aspirations and business needs.- Facilitate team dynamics, resolve conflicts, and build cohesive, high-performing teams.- Drive recruitment efforts including sourcing, interviewing, and hiring top engineering talent.- Ensure on-time delivery of high-quality software features aligned with product roadmaps.- Break down complex initiatives into manageable work items with clear acceptance criteria.- Facilitate agile ceremonies such as sprint planning, daily standups,
and retrospectives.- Remove blockers and dependencies impeding team progress.- Monitor work-in-progress and team velocity to maintain a sustainable delivery pace.- Coordinate with other engineering teams to manage dependencies and integration points.- Establish and enforce code quality standards through reviews and best practices.- Champion DevOps practices, test-driven development, and comprehensive automated testing strategies.- Drive adoption of AI-powered development tools to enhance team productivity.- Stay current with technology trends including AI/ML advancements and evaluate new tools and frameworks.- Collaborate with various teams such as Product Management, Architecture, QA/Test, and Technical Program Managers.- Drive continuous improvement through retrospectives and actionable experiments.- Monitor and improve team metrics including velocity, cycle time, and quality indicators.- Use data to inform decisions and demonstrate team impact.Qualifications:- Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related technical field required.- Equivalent experience (8 years software engineering) may substitute for degree.Additional Details:ACI Worldwide offers opportunities for growth, career development, and a competitive compensation and benefits package within an innovative and collaborative work environment.
