You will be leading and managing the mortgage underwriting team in the Risk Management Group to ensure the prudent evaluation and approval of credit applications, effective risk management, and compliance with internal policies and regulatory guidelines. Your role is crucial in maintaining the quality of the banks mortgage exposure in India and driving business growth with a focus on a nil delinquent book.**Key Responsibilities:**- **Credit Application Evaluation & Approval:** Recommend and/or approve credit applications following agreed process workflows and policies, highlighting and considering all significant risks.- **Delinquency Management:** Proactively track delinquency levels, ensuring timely follow-up with Collections and Business teams for regularization of overdues.- **Market & Product Expertise:** Possess and apply sound knowledge of the Indian Western market, specifically Mortgages, including associated risks. Expertise in other location markets is beneficial.- **Regulatory Compliance:** Apply in-depth knowledge of RBI Regulations/MAS Guidelines governing credit dispensation, including Loan Grading, Provisioning, and Asset Classification regulations.- **Legal Framework Understanding:** Maintain a working knowledge of the general legal framework in India and apply it to underwriting processes.**Qualifications Required:**- **Experience:** 10 years of comprehensive mortgage experience.- **Education:** Preferably a Chartered Accountant or an MBA in Finance.You will be responsible for team management and development, framing lending policy frameworks, assisting in maintaining error-free processes, judiciously approving credit applications, ensuring portfolio quality assurance, and upholding compliance standards with zero audit lapses.
Additionally, you will provide guidance to Mortgage counselors on policy and process matters.The core competencies required for this role include locational expertise in Mumbai, Pune, Gujarat, and other markets, excellent communication skills, solid analytical and problem-solving abilities, leadership skills for team building, and meticulous attention to detail for accurate credit assessments and policy implementation.Your work relationships will involve extensive interaction with Business teams, Collections, HO Credit team, Risk Audit Team, product teams, external auditors, and regulatory bodies as necessary.
