Job Description: The Quality In-Charge in a steel plant oversees raw materials, in-process production, and finished goods (e.g., TMT bars, structural steel) to meet chemical, mechanical, and physical standards. They lead the testing laboratory, enforce compliance, and minimize product rejections. Key Responsibilities

- Quality Inspections: Test raw materials (scrap, sponge iron), monitor temperatures/chemistry in the Steel Melting Shop (SMS), and inspect finished steel dimensions and surface finishes.
- Laboratory Management: Supervise the QC lab and operate testing equipment like Universal Testing Machines (UTM), Spectrometers, and Bend/Rebend machines.
- Compliance & Auditing: Maintain documentation for audits, ensure compliance with BIS standards (e.g., IS 1786), and manage protocols.
- Defect Resolution:



Lead root-cause analysis for product defects and coordinate with production teams to implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
- Customer & Vendor Liaison: Work with clients or third-party agencies for product approvals and material dispatch clearances.

Requirements & Qualifications
- Education: Degree or Diploma in Metallurgical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering.
- Experience: Typically 5 to 10 years in quality control within a steel manufacturing or heavy fabrication facility.
- Technical Skills: Deep understanding of steel properties, Non-Destructive Testing (NDT), and QMS (Quality Management Systems).
