Job Description: Senior Cost Controller – Project Controls Position Title Senior Cost Controller – Project Controls Function Integrated Project Controls – T&D; SBU Location Noida / T&D; SBU Reporting To Lead – Project Controls / Project Controls Head Role Type Cost-Control Execution Specialist Role Purpose The Senior Cost Controller – Project Controls will support the Project Controls function in strengthening cost-control execution discipline across T&D; EPC projects. The role will focus on monthly cost reporting, CTC/FAC working, margin movement analysis, budget vs actual vs commitment visibility, SAP WBS-CBS cost mapping, PR/PO exception tracking, and cost variance analysis. Key Responsibilities 1. Monthly Cost Reporting · Prepare and support monthly cost reports for priority T&D; EPC projects. · Consolidate and validate approved budget, actual cost, open commitments, accruals, CTC, FAC / EAC, margin movement, billing / UBR inputs, inventory exposure, cost risks and action owners. · Ensure monthly cost reporting is aligned with the approved review cadence. · Highlight missing inputs, data gaps, abnormal variances, and inconsistent cost assumptions. · Ensure cost reports include variance reason, action owner, target date, and RAG status. 2. CTC / FAC Working Support · Support monthly CTC and FAC working for projects. · Review CTC assumptions against physical progress, balance scope, open commitments, productivity trend, delay impact, pending claims / variations, inventory and surplus material. · Prepare FAC movement analysis month-on-month. · Identify cost forecast risks and support preparation of project-wise cost risk / opportunity tracker. · Flag unsupported or optimistic CTC assumptions for review by management. 3. Margin Movement and Variance Analysis · Analyze cost variance against budget at project, WBS, CBS, and cost-head level. · Identify variance drivers such as quantity variance, rate variance, productivity loss, delay cost, scope change, wrong cost booking, budget mismatch and unplanned commitment.
· Prepare margin movement summaries for project reviews. · Support cost RAG classification for monthly management reporting. 4. SAP WBS-CBS and Cost Code Validation · Review SAP WBS / CBS / cost code mapping for priority projects. · Identify incorrect WBS / CBS usage in cost reports, PRs, POs, and actual cost bookings. · Coordinate with Finance, SCM, and project teams for correction of cost coding issues. · Support standardization of WBS-CBS mapping across projects. · Maintain WBS-CBS exception tracker. 5. Commitment and PR/PO Exception Tracking · Track open PRs, open POs, and commitments project-wise. · Compare actual cost + commitments against approved budget. · Identify budget breach cases, duplicate PR/PO, old unconsumed POs, wrong WBS/CBS mapping, PR/POs not linked to schedule requirement and commitments with potential FAC impact. · Maintain PR/PO exception register. · Provide inputs for pre-commitment control review. 6. Interface with Finance, SCM, Planning and Projects · Coordinate with Finance for actual cost, accruals, and cost booking data. · Coordinate with SCM for open POs, commitments, procurement status, and PR/PO exceptions. · Coordinate with Planning for progress, balance scope, and schedule status. · Coordinate with PMs / site teams for CTC inputs, variance explanations, and corrective actions. · Support monthly integrated project review packs. 7. Cost Controls As-Is Assessment Support · Support the internal cost setup diagnostic during rollout. · Review existing cost reporting process, SAP WBS-CBS setup, actual cost and commitment quality, CTC/FAC working method, PR/PO leakage points, billing / UBR cost linkage and inventory linkage.
Key Deliverables · Monthly cost report working files · Project-wise CTC / FAC working sheets · FAC vs budget tracker · Margin movement tracker · Cost variance analysis · Budget vs actual vs commitment report · PR/PO exception register · WBS-CBS exception tracker · Open PO / commitment tracker · Cost inputs for monthly SBG dashboard · Action tracker for cost-related red / amber items · Inputs for cost controls as-is assessment Required Experience · 10–15 years of experience in project cost control, project controls, cost reporting, project commercial control, or EPC cost management. · Experience in EPC / infrastructure / transmission / power / construction projects preferred. · Strong working knowledge of budgeting, actual cost, commitments, accruals, CTC, FAC / EAC, cost variance, WBS / CBS, SAP cost booking and margin movement. · Experience in monthly project cost reporting and project cost forecasting. · SAP PS / MM / FICO exposure preferred. Qualification · B.E. / B.Tech / Diploma in Engineering with relevant cost control experience; or · MBA / Finance / Costing background with EPC project experience; or · CMA / ICWA / equivalent costing qualification preferred. Preferred Background · Candidates with a Finance / Costing / Commercial / Project Finance background will be preferred, provided they have robust EPC project cost-control exposure. · Candidates with experience working closely with Finance, SCM, SAP, and project teams will be preferred.
