Responsibilities
Teach Carnatic vocal techniques, including sarali varisai, jantai varisai, alankaram, geetham, varnam, and kritis to students of various age groups.
Impart knowledge of ragas, talas, swaras, and shruti alignment.
Conduct individual and group classes based on the curriculum.
Prepare students for performances, exams, and recitals (including arangetrams where applicable).
Create engaging lesson plans that suit beginner to advanced learners.
Track student progress and provide constructive feedback.
Maintain a positive, engaging, and safe learning environment.
Requirements
Robust proficiency in Carnatic vocal music with a solid grasp of ragas and talas.
Ability to teach across levels, from foundational exercises to advanced compositions.
Good communication and patience while teaching kids and adults.
Prior teaching experience preferred, but not mandatory.
Ability to teach with shruti box/tanpura and maintain accurate pitch and laya.
Knowledge of music theory and notation is an added advantage.
Additional Skills (Optional)
Experience performing in concerts (kutcheris) or cultural events.
Ability to prepare students for Trinity, Rockschool, or graded Carnatic exams (e.g., government/university certifications).
Familiarity with other classical forms or light music (bhajans, devotional, film-based classical).
