Job Summary:
A Gas Cutter is responsible for cutting metal materials using oxy-fuel (gas cutting) equipment according to specified dimensions and drawings. The role requires precision, safety awareness, and knowledge of cutting techniques.
Key Responsibilities:
Operate gas cutting equipment (oxygen–acetylene or LPG systems)
Cut metal plates, pipes, and structures as per drawings or instructions
Mark cutting lines using measuring tools and templates
Adjust gas pressure and flame for accurate cutting
Inspect cut materials for accuracy and quality
Remove slag and smooth rough edges after cutting
Perform basic maintenance of gas cutting equipment
Ensure protected handling and storage of gas cylinders
Follow all safety guidelines and procedures
Required Skills & Qualifications:
Knowledge of gas cutting techniques and equipment
Ability to read basic drawings and measurements
Familiarity with different metals (mild steel, stainless steel, etc.)
Positive hand-eye coordination and steady control
Awareness of safety practices related to gas and fire hazards
Basic troubleshooting skills for equipment issues
Education & Experience:
ITI in Welder / Fitter or relevant trade (preferred)
1–3 years of experience in gas cutting work
Work Workplace:
Workshops, fabrication units, or construction sites
Exposure to heat, sparks, fumes, and heavy materials
Requires use of PPE such as gloves, goggles, face shield, and safety shoes
