Job Summary:
We are seeking a compassionate and reliable General Duty Assistant (GDA) to provide high-quality home care support to patients in their residences. The ideal candidate will assist with daily living activities, ensure patient comfort, and support overall well-being under the guidance of healthcare professionals.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist patients with personal care tasks such as bathing, grooming, dressing, and toileting
Help with mobility, transfers, and basic exercises as advised by healthcare staff
Monitor and record vital signs (if trained) and report any changes in patient condition
Support medication reminders (as per guidelines; no administration unless certified)
Maintain cleanliness and hygiene of the patient’s setting
Assist with meal preparation and feeding, ensuring dietary requirements are met
Provide companionship and emotional support to patients
Follow care plans and instructions from nurses or supervisors
Ensure patient safety at all times
Requirements:
Certification in General Duty Assistant (GDA) / Nursing Assistant or relevant training
Previous experience in home care or hospital settings preferred
Basic knowledge of patient care and hygiene practices
Good communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to handle patients with patience and empathy
Physically fit to assist with lifting and mobility tasks
Willingness to work flexible shifts, including weekends if required
Preferred Qualifications:
First aid and basic life support (BLS) training
Experience with elderly or chronic illness care
