ServiceNow ITOM Developer – CMDB / Discovery / Service Mapping

About The Role

We are seeking a highly experienced ServiceNow Developer/Engineer to lead parts of the design, development, and optimization of CMDB, Discovery, and Service Mapping capabilities. This role is critical to advancing data quality, service visibility, and operational resilience — supporting enterprise initiatives such as cyber defence, asset management, and rapid incident remediation.

Key Responsibilities

Platform Engineering & Development

Design and develop scalable solutions across CMDB (CSDM-aligned), ServiceNow Discovery, and Service Mapping (top-down and tag-based)
Build and maintain patterns for service modelling, CI relationships, and dependency mapping
Develop custom scripts, integrations, and automation using Business Rules, Script Includes, Flow Designer, REST/SOAP APIs
Optimize platform performance and data ingestion pipelines (Discovery, integrations, cloud sources)





CMDB & Data Governance

Drive CMDB health and maturity — completeness, correctness, compliance, and reconciliation
Implement and enforce Identification & Reconciliation Engine (IRE) rules
Manage data certification and lifecycle processes
Partner with stakeholders on data ownership and stewardship models

Discovery & Service Mapping Engineering

Engineer and optimize Horizontal Discovery (on-prem, cloud, hybrid)
Configure and troubleshoot Service Mapping patterns, probes, sensors, and credentials
Resolve complex discovery/mapping issues — misidentification, duplicate CIs, pattern failures
Build reusable patterns for common application stacks and cloud-native/containerized services
Integrate with external tools such as Datadog, AWS, Azure, SCCM, JAMF

Integration & Automation

Design integrations to enrich CMDB and service context (cloud platforms, monitoring/observability tools, asset & software system
