Job Summary
The L1 Veeam Backup Administrator is responsible for first-level support of backup and recovery operations using Veeam. The role focuses on monitoring backup jobs, handling routine backup issues, performing basic restores, and escalating complex problems to L2/L3 teams as per defined procedures.

Key Responsibilities
Monitor daily backup and replication jobs using Veeam Backup & Replication
Perform basic troubleshooting for backup failures based on runbooks/SOPs
Execute file-level and VM-level restore requests as per approved processes
Validate backup success, job completion, and alert statuses
Handle incident and service request tickets within defined SLAs
Perform routine activities such as:
• Job restarts
• Status checks
• Log reviews
Escalate unresolved or critical issues to L2/L3 teams with proper documentation




Coordinate with system, storage, and application teams during restore activities
Maintain basic backup documentation and shift handover notes
Support shift-based / 24×7 operations if required

Skill Requirements
Basic understanding of Veeam Backup & Replication
Knowledge of backup concepts:
• Full, Incremental, Differential backups
• Retention policies
Awareness of VMware/Hyper‑V environments
Basic knowledge of Windows/Linux OS concepts
Familiarity with monitoring and ticketing tools (ServiceNow or similar)
Exposure to enterprise backup environments
Understanding of ITIL processes (Incident, Request, Escalation)
Basic knowledge of storage and network concepts
Willingness to learn and upskill on backup and DR technologies
