Job Summary
Job Title: BigFix L3 – Endpoint Management Engineer
Role Level: L3 (Senior Engineer / SME)
Function: End User Computing / Endpoint Management

Role Summary
The BigFix L3 Engineer is the technical Subject Matter Expert (SME) responsible for designing, operating, and optimizing HCL BigFix for enterprise-scale endpoint management. The role supports Windows and non Windows platforms (macOS/Linux) with strong emphasis on patch compliance, automation, scripting, and complex issue resolution, while providing technical leadership and mentoring L2 teams.

Key Responsibilities
• Act as L3 escalation point and platform SME for BigFix-related incidents, deployments, and agent issues.
• Design and govern OS and application patching strategy, ensuring SLA, security, and audit compliance.
• Develop and maintain custom Fixlets, Tasks, Baselines, and software distribution packages at scale.
• Lead automation and self-healing initiatives to reduce manual effort and incident recurrence.
• Manage and support Windows, macOS, and Linux endpoints, including packaging, remediation, and compliance checks.
• Perform root cause analysis for deployment failures, agent health issues,



and patch non-compliance.
• Optimize BigFix platform performance (relays, content efficiency, action success rates).
• Define and maintain standards, SOPs, and runbooks; mentor and guide L2 engineers.
• Partner with Security and Vulnerability teams to translate CVE findings into BigFix remediation plans.
• Provide compliance and health reporting for leadership and audit readiness.

Skill Requirements
Required Technical Skills
BigFix
• Deep hands-on experience with HCL BigFix Console, Web Reports, Relevance, Action Script, Fixlet Debugger
• Strong knowledge of BigFix architecture (Root Server, Relays, scalability, troubleshooting)
Automation & Scripting
• Advanced PowerShell scripting (mandatory)
• Working knowledge of Bash/Shell and/or Python
Endpoint Platforms
• Expert-level Windows OS management (patching, registry, MSI installs, services)
• Robust hands-on experience with macOS and/or Linux endpoint management

• Integration with ServiceNow, vulnerability tools (Qualys/Tenable), or SCCM/Intune coexistence
• Security baseline enforcement (CIS, Microsoft baselines)
• Audit and compliance support experience

Experience & Qualifications
• 6–10+ years overall IT experience
• 3–5+ years hands-on BigFix endpoint management
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
• ITIL / BigFix certifications preferred
