Job Summary
Job Description – Network Data & Security L3 SME
Role Summary
The Network Data & Security L3 SME is a senior-level technical expert responsible for the design, implementation, operations, security integration, and optimization of enterprise and datacenter network environments. This role serves as the final escalation point (L3) for complex network and security incidents, ensuring high availability, performance, and security compliance across customer environments leveraging Cisco, Arista, Zscaler, Palo Alto, F5, Cisco ISE, IP Control, DHCP, DNS and Nile Secure technologies.

Key Responsibilities – L3 Operations & Escalation
• Provide Level 3 support for critical and complex network and security incidents across LAN, WAN, Datacenter, and Wireless environments.
• Lead advanced troubleshooting, Root Cause Analysis (RCA), and implementation of permanent corrective actions.
• Participate in major incident bridges, 24x7 on-call rotation, and disaster recovery or failover testing.

Network Engineering & Architecture
• Design, implement, and operate enterprise routing and switching solutions using BGP, OSPF, EIGRP, MPLS, and QoS.
• Architect and support scalable datacenter networks using Arista Leaf-Spine designs and EVPN-VXLAN.
• Support Cisco Catalyst and Nexus switching platforms and ensure high availability network design.

Datacenter & WAN Technologies
• Operate and troubleshoot Arista Datacenter infrastructure including EVPN-VXLAN and MLAG.
• Support Cisco Nexus platforms (2K/3K/5K/7K/9K) where applicable.
• Manage WAN, MPLS, Internet Edge, and SD-WAN environments.

Network Security & Zero Trust




• Implement and support Zscaler ZIA and ZPA for secure internet access and zero trust connectivity.
• Operate Palo Alto Next-Generation Firewalls including security policies, NAT, VPNs, and application control.
• Support Nile Secure access and collaborate on compliance and audit requirements.

Load Balancing & Application Delivery
• Design and support F5 Load Balancers (LTM; GTM preferred).
• Manage VIPs, health monitors, SSL offloading, and traffic optimization.

Wireless Networking
• Design and support enterprise Cisco Wireless LAN solutions.
• Ensure secure, high-performance wireless access with seamless roaming.

Monitoring, Optimization & Documentation
• Monitor network and security health using SolarWinds, and Cisco Prime/DNAC.
• Perform capacity planning, performance tuning, and continuous optimization.
• Maintain network diagrams, SOPs, and design documentation.

Technical Skills – Must Have
• Routing & Switching: BGP, OSPF, EIGRP, MPLS, QoS, HSRP/VRRP.
• Datacenter: Arista Leaf-Spine, EVPN-VXLAN; Cisco Nexus (preferred).
• Security: Zscaler ZIA/ZPA, Palo Alto NGFW, Zero Trust.
• Load Balancing: F5 LTM (GTM good to have).
• WAN & VPN: IPsec, DMVPN, Site-to-Site, SD-WAN.
• Wireless: Cisco Enterprise WLAN.
