Job Summary
Role Summary
The Segmentation Consultant (SAP PP) is responsible for designing, configuring, and supporting segmentation‑based planning and manufacturing processes in SAP PP. The role focuses on enabling characteristic‑based planning, inventory segmentation, and production execution aligned with business requirements in Make‑to‑Order (MTO), Engineer‑to‑Order (ETO), or variant‑driven manufacturing scenarios.

Act as a subject matter expert for SAP PP Segmentation and characteristic‑based planning
Analyze business requirements for segmentation across planning, production, and inventory
Design end‑to‑end solutions using segmentation structures, characteristics, and values
Enable business scenarios such as:
• Make‑to‑Order (MTO)
• Variant‑driven manufacturing
• Customer‑specific production
Ensure alignment between demand, supply, and execution using segmentation logic
SAP PP Segmentation Configuration
Configure PP Segmentation in S/4HANA, including:
• Segmentation structures
• Characteristics and characteristic values
• Segmentation relevance for materials and plants
Integrate segmentation with:
• Demand Management
• MRP / MRP Live
• Production Orders / Process Orders
• Inventory Management (IM)
Support segmentation‑based ATP and availability checks
Integration & Cross‑Module Collaboration
Work closely with SD, MM, QM, EWM,



and FI teams for end‑to‑end process integration
Ensure proper flow of segmentation data from Sales Orders → Planning → Production → Inventory
Support integration with Advanced Planning (PP/DS) where applicable
Testing, Deployment & Support
Prepare functional design documents (FDDs) and configuration documents
Conduct unit testing, integration testing, and support UAT
Support cutover, go‑live, and post‑go‑live stabilization
Resolve production issues and implement continuous improvements
Stakeholder Management & Documentation
Collaborate with business users, IT teams, and external partners
Conduct workshops and user training sessions
Create SOPs, process flows, and training materials

SAP & Functional Skills
Strong hands‑on experience in SAP PP with Segmentation
Good understanding of:
• Characteristic‑based planning
• Inventory segmentation concepts
• MRP planning strategies
Experience in SAP S/4HANA PP (mandatory)
Exposure to Make‑to‑Order / Variant Configuration scenarios
Technical & Analytical Skills
Business requirement analysis and solution design
Functional configuration and testing
Strong troubleshooting and root cause analysis skills
Excellent documentation abilities
Soft Skills
Solid communication and stakeholder management skills
Ability to work independently in complex manufacturing environments
Experience working with global teams and time zones
Other Requirements
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Supply Chain, Manufacturing, or related field
SAP PP certification (preferred)
Experience in manufacturing, automotive, industrial, or process industries is a plus
Nice to Have
Experience with PP/DS and embedded PP/DS in S/4HANA
Knowledge of Variant Configuration (VC)
Exposure to EWM and advanced inventory scenarios
Experience in S/4HANA transformation or brownfield conversions
