Job Summary
HCX Engineer JD
Responsibilities:
Administer and maintain VMware vSphere environments, including ESXi hosts, vCenter Server, virtual machines, storage, and networking.
Perform the HCX Migration from on-prem or any cloud.
Design and implement highly available and scalable VMware infrastructure.
Automate VMware infrastructure tasks using scripting (e.g., PowerCLI, Python) and automation tools.
Implement and manage VMware vSAN and other storage solutions.
Manage and configure VMware NSX networking components (if applicable).
Troubleshoot and resolve VMware infrastructure issues.
Perform capacity planning and performance tuning.
Implement and enforce security best practices within the VMware environment.
Collaborate with other teams to integrate VMware infrastructure with other systems.
If GCVE experience is present:
Deploy and manage GCVE environments.
Integrate on-premises VMware infrastructure with GCVE.
Manage and configure networking and security in GCVE.
Participate in on-call rotation as needed.
Document and maintain VMware infrastructure configurations and procedures.
Continuously learn and stay up-to-date with the latest VMware and GCVE technologies.

Required Skills and Experience:
7+ years of experience in VMware vSphere administration.
Deep understanding of VMware vSphere architecture and components.




Strong experience with VMware vCenter Server administration.
Deep understanding of HCX.
Experience with VMware vSAN or other storage solutions.
Solid understanding of networking concepts and experience with VMware NSX (if applicable).
Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills related to VMware environments.
Solid communication and collaboration skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Preferred Skills and Experience:
Experience with Google Cloud VMware Engine (GCVE) is a significant advantage.
Experience with hybrid cloud environments and integrating on-premises VMware with cloud platforms.
Knowledge of other virtualization technologies (e.g., Hyper-V, KVM).
Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., GCP, AWS, Azure).
Experience with infrastructure-as-code tools (e.g., Terraform, Ansible).
VMware certifications (e.g., VCP, VCAP) are a plus.
Experience with backup and disaster recovery solutions for VMware environments.
Experience with monitoring and logging tools for VMware.

Key Responsibilities
1. Lead operations management by optimizing workplace virtualization processes using GCP tools such as Compute Engine, Cloud Identity, and Virtual Desktop solutions, ensuring high availability and performance.
2. Oversee support operations by implementing automation and monitoring solutions on GCP to proactively identify and resolve incidents, minimizing service disruptions.
3.



Mentor and empower team members in GCP best practices for workplace virtualization, fostering knowledge sharing and technical growth within the operations team.
4. Drive continuous improvement initiatives by analyzing operational data from GCP’s Operations Suite to enhance reporting, workflow efficiency, and compliance with client SLAs.
5. Collaborate within the team to gather and interpret complex client requirements, translating them into effective GCP-based virtualization support solutions.
6. Champion innovation by evaluating and integrating new GCP services or third-party tools that advance workplace virtualization capabilities and operational excellence.
7. Ensure transparent communication of project objectives, progress, and risks to both internal teams and client stakeholders, using GCP management and reporting tools.

Skill Requirements
1. Excellent Proficiency In Gcp Operations Management, Automation Tools (Cloud Functions, Cloud Run), And Monitoring (Cloud Operations Suite).
2. Advanced Skills In Managing And Troubleshooting Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (Vdi) And Remote Workspace Environments On Gcp.
3. Strong Understanding Of Security, Compliance, And Identity Management In Gcp Workplace Virtualization Scenarios.
4. Excellent Ability To Interpret And Translate Client Needs Into Actionable Gcp Solutions For Workplace Virtualization.
5. Advanced Proficiency In Leading Teams, Mentoring, And Driving Continuous Improvement In Cloud Operations.

Other Requirements
1. Google Cloud Professional Cloud Architect or Professional Collaboration Engineer certification is highly recommended.
2. Optional but valuable: VMware Certified Professional – Desktop and Mobility (VCPDTM)
