Job Overview

We are looking for an experienced WAF L1/L2 Engineer with expertise in Akamai Kona Site Defender to support and secure enterprise web applications. The ideal candidate will be responsible for monitoring, tuning, troubleshooting, and optimizing Web Application Firewall (WAF) solutions while ensuring protection against evolving cyber threats.

Key Responsibilities

- Provide L2 operational support for Akamai WAF (Kona Site Defender).

- Monitor, analyze, and respond to WAF alerts, logs, and security incidents.

- Configure, tune, and optimize WAF policies while managing false positives.

- Onboard and secure new web applications and services.

- Handle incident management, escalations, and vendor coordination.

- Perform root cause analysis (RCA) for recurring security incidents.

- Support upgrades, patching, and policy change implementations.

- Collaborate with application, Dev Ops, and security teams to strengthen application security.

- Maintain SOPs, runbooks, and technical documentation.

- Ensure compliance with security standards, audits,



and regulatory requirements.

- Stay updated on OWASP Top 10 vulnerabilities, CVEs, and emerging web security threats.

Required Skills Mandatory

- 4–7 years of experience in Network Security or Web Application Security.

- Hands-on experience with Akamai Kona Site Defender.

- Strong understanding of:

- OWASP Top 10

- Web Application Attack Vectors

- HTTP/HTTPS

- TLS/SSL

- DNS

- TCP/IP

- Experience in WAF policy creation, tuning, and custom rule development.

- Familiarity with Akamai Control Center (Luna Portal).

- Experience with Incident, Change, and Problem Management processes.

Preferred

- Experience with Cloudflare WAF, AWS WAF, F5 ASM, Imperva, or Forti Web.

- Knowledge of CDN, Reverse Proxy, Caching, and Load Balancing technologies.

- Exposure to SIEM tools such as Splunk, QRadar, or ELK.

- Experience with scripting, automation, REST APIs, Python, or Shell scripting.

- Understanding of Bot Management, API Security, and DDoS Protection solutions.

Education

- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.

Preferred Certifications

- Akamai WAF Certification.

- CEH, GIAC, or other Cyber Security Certifications.
