Roles & Responsibilities

New Relic: Senior Architect/ Developer,

New Relic: Developer

- Strong focus on architecting and delivering NR monitors in a way that supports System Reliability Engineering (“SRE”)
- Provide visibility into business application and infrastructure through proactive monitoring.
- Provide application-level monitoring including APM and synthetic monitoring.
- Support application teams with performance issues and are addressed.
- Provide training to users and stakeholders on the new monitoring tools and processes.
- Develop updated documentation and user guides to facilitate adoption and troubleshooting.
- Collect feedback from users and stakeholders to identify areas for further improvement.
- Manage the monitoring infrastructure and ensuring the configuration and code levels are kept at required levels.
- Configure and code new requirements from the consumers and product owners are implemented via ServiceNow tickets.
- Configure and code ServiceNow Event Mgmt to effectively manage alerts, including correlation, silencing, and ticket creation.
- Document the current monitoring tools ecosystem, including tools in use, configurations, data sources, integrations, and workflows.
- Thoroughly test the monitoring ecosystem to ensure data accuracy, performance, and functionality
- Streamline monitoring workflows by implementing automation for routine tasks and alerts.
- Identify pain points, inefficiencies, and areas for improvement in the existing ecosystem.
- Provision necessary infrastructure (eg, Current Relic Minions) and resources for the new monitoring environment.
- Design and implement improved dashboards and visualizations to provide better insights into the monitored systems.
- Create custom reports and alerts that align with stakeholders' needs and requirements.




- Upgrade New Relic agents and libraries as required.
- Implement data retention policies to manage storage costs and maintain data quality
- Regularly review and update monitoring knowledge base, based on changing needs and technological advancements. Keep abreast of changing monitoring technologies.
- In some cases, due to ongoing separation work:
- Migrate monitors and monitoring technology from Corp Holdings to Aerospace.
- Migrate (clone, cleanse, and startup) of all technology and application performance and availability monitoring from Corp Holdings to Aerospace.

- Examples of Reports Required:

- Monitoring Self health report which provides everyday health check status, stating critical metrics and SLA.
- Reports that show a comparison of assets in the SN CMDB that should be monitored with actual NR monitors to show coverage percent.
- Infra Monitoring Dashboard which provided an overview of infrastructure device health, connectivity status and critical alerts.
- Application Monitor Analysis which provides overview on application monitors, systematically identifying the traffic utilization thereby minimizing the overall costing of the APM accounts.
- Historical trend analysis report which tracks performance metrics over time to identify usage patterns and forecast future capacity needs.
- Capacity Utilization Reports help in determining whether monitoring resources are optimally utilized or nearing capacity limits.
- NR agent specific deployment status, agent version gaps, and fixes on deliverables for NR monitors.
- Top talkers report identifies the devices or applications generating the most events and those with high noise for monitoring optimization.
- Adding to this we need Knowledge on Automation like Ansible, Terraform & Python.
