A Conventional Machinist operates manual machine tools such as lathes, milling machines, drilling machines, and grinders to manufacture and repair precision components according to technical drawings and specifications.
Key Responsibilities:
- Set up and operate conventional machines (lathe, milling, drilling, shaping, grinding)
- Read and interpret engineering drawings and blueprints
- Select appropriate cutting tools, speeds, and feeds
- Perform operations like turning, facing, threading, drilling, and boring
- Measure and inspect finished parts using tools like vernier calipers, micrometers, and gauges
- Maintain tight tolerances and ensure high-quality output
- Carry out routine machine maintenance and cleaning
- Sharpen and replace cutting tools when needed
- Troubleshoot machining issues and adjust processes
- Follow safety procedures and workshop guidelines
