Job Summary:
An Optometrist is a licensed healthcare professional who examines patients' eyes to diagnose vision problems and eye diseases, prescribes corrective lenses, and provides treatment for certain eye conditions. They play a key role in maintaining patients' eye health and improving vision.

Key Responsibilities:

- Perform comprehensive eye examinations.
- Diagnose vision disorders and eye diseases.
- Prescribe eyeglasses, contact lenses, and vision therapy when appropriate.
- Detect and manage eye conditions such as glaucoma, cataracts, dry eye, and diabetic retinopathy (within the scope of practice).
- Educate patients on eye care, vision correction options, and preventive eye health.
- Refer patients to ophthalmologists or other specialists when advanced medical or surgical care is needed.
- Maintain accurate patient records and documentation.
- Operate and maintain ophthalmic diagnostic equipment.
- Stay updated on advancements in optometry and comply with qualified standards and regulations.

Required Qualifications:

- Doctor of Optometry (OD) degree from an accredited institution.




- Valid state or national optometry license (as required by the jurisdiction).
- Strong knowledge of ocular anatomy, physiology, and vision care.
- Proficiency in using diagnostic and examination equipment.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Attention to detail and strong clinical decision-making abilities.

Preferred Skills:

- Experience with electronic medical records (EMR/EHR).
- Contact lens fitting expertise.
- Pediatric or geriatric eye care experience.
- Ability to work collaboratively with healthcare professionals.
- Robust patient counseling and customer service skills.
