Job Summary
The Active Directory L3 Engineer is responsible for advanced administration, troubleshooting, and engineering support of the enterprise Active Directory environment across on-premises and integrated identity services. The role focuses on maintaining directory infrastructure, ensuring authentication reliability, managing domain services, and supporting identity integration with enterprise platforms. The engineer will also handle complex incidents, directory architecture changes, and operational improvements for the Active Directory ecosystem.

Key Responsibilities
Provide advanced operational and engineering support for the Active Directory environment including directory services, authentication infrastructure, and domain services.
• Manage and maintain Active Directory forests, domains, organizational units, and directory objects in accordance with enterprise standards.
• Troubleshoot complex issues related to authentication failures, domain replication problems, and directory service performance.
• Manage and maintain Active Directory Domain Controllers including health monitoring, configuration validation, and preventive maintenance activities.
• Support configuration and management of Group Policy Objects (GPOs) to enforce security and operational policies across domain environments.
• Monitor directory services including replication status, topology health, and directory synchronization activities.
• Manage directory infrastructure components including global catalog servers, FSMO roles, LDAP services, and domain configuration settings.




• Support Azure AD Connect synchronization processes including troubleshooting synchronization failures and maintaining directory synchronization health.
• Perform Active Directory schema updates and manage directory extensions where required.
• Support authentication and authorization services integrated with enterprise platforms including identity governance and federation services.
• Manage directory-based user accounts, service accounts, and group objects in accordance with identity governance policies.
• Support domain controller patching, operating system updates, and security hardening activities.
• Perform root cause analysis for critical incidents affecting directory services and authentication systems.
• Coordinate backup and recovery operations for domain controllers and directory databases.
• Maintain and support development, testing, and UAT environments related to directory services infrastructure.
• Engage with infrastructure teams and security teams to support improvements in identity infrastructure and directory security.
• Maintain technical documentation including domain configurations, directory architecture, and operational procedures.

Skill Requirements
Solid hands-on experience administering Microsoft Active Directory in enterprise environments.
• Experience managing multi-domain or multi-forest Active Directory infrastructures.
• Good understanding of Active Directory replication, domain services, and authentication mechanisms.
• Experience managing Group Policy Objects and domain security configurations.
• Familiarity with Azure AD Connect and hybrid identity synchronization.
• Knowledge of directory services protocols such as LDAP, Kerberos, and DNS.
• Experience supporting domain controller infrastructure including patching, monitoring, and maintenance.
• Experience working within enterprise incident, change, and problem management processes.
