About the role
Job Summary
The Jr. Procurement Officer is responsible for supporting procurement activities including order processing, supplier communication, and documentation. This role assists in ensuring timely and accurate purchasing of goods and services under close supervision. This job profile is intended for early-career professionals who apply broad theoretical knowledge and require the ability to investigate and analyse problems. Solutions are typically discussed/verified with a more senior member.
Transportation & Shipment Coordination
• Plan and execute daily dispatches for domestic deliveries.
• Coordinate with transporters, freight forwarders, and courier partners for timely pick‑ups and deliveries.
• Track shipments end‑to‑end and resolve transit delays.
• Ensure route optimization for cost and time efficiency.
• Prepare and verify logistics documentation (LR, e‑Way Bills, invoices, delivery challans, etc.).
• Ensure compliance with GST, state border regulations, and transport rules.
• Maintain proper shipment records for audits and management review.
Vendor & Transporter Management
• Handle day‑to‑day communication with transport partners.
• Negotiate freight rates (if assigned) and ensure service-level adherence.
• Evaluate transporter performance (delivery timelines, claims, damages, etc.).
MIS & Reporting
• Maintain dispatch logs, freight cost summaries, and daily/weekly/monthly MIS reports.
• Analyze logistics performance (TAT, cost per shipment, delivery accuracy).
Key Skills & Competencies
• Strong understanding of domestic logistics operations and transportation.
• Good knowledge of e‑Way Bill, GST logistics compliance, and LR documentation.
• Proficiency in MS Excel, ERP, or SAP.
• Strong coordination and communication skills.
• Problem-solving mindset and ability to work under time pressure.
• Attention to detail and accuracy in documentation.
Qualifications
• Graduate in Supply Chain, Logistics, Commerce, or related field (preferred).
• 2–7 years of experience in domestic logistics operations (depending on role level).
• Experience in manufacturing, engineering industries is a plus.
