Job Role Linux System Administrator for Area of Simulation
Purpose:
We are looking for a Linux System Administrator to develop, operate, and continuously improve a high-performance remote visualization platform used by simulation engineers within R&D.; The platform is a graphics-intensive virtual working workplace and a critical part of users' daily work, where stability, performance, and security are essential. You will work in a distributed, agile team based in Sweden and India and support approximately 250 users. The role combines hands-on Linux system administration, automation, monitoring, and user-focused support, with clear ownership of service quality and uptime.
Responsibilities
Administer Linux-based systems and related services
Take primary responsibility for support in L2 and L3 areas. Handle incidents, service requests, improvement proposals, and security-related cases Perform root-cause analysis and implement long-term improvements Install and lifecycle-manage applications used by engineering teams Automate operational tasks and contribute to platform reliability Design and improve monitoring, alerting,
and platform observability Maintain technical documentation and follow internal security and compliance requirements Communicate directly with users in a solution-oriented and user-centric manner Ways of Working The role is led by a Product Owner based in S dert lje. You will work in an agile setup with sprint-based deliveries and a larger planning cycle every 10 weeks. You are expected to participate actively in team meetings, planning, and reviews, and to deliver work end-to-end, from planning and implementation to review and documentation. Required Skills Strong Linux system administration experience Automation and configuration management (e.g. Ansible) Monitoring and observability tools (e.g. Grafana) Gitlab as version control system Git-based version control and CI/CD workflows Excellent English communication skills Nice to have Experience supporting remote desktop, VDI, or similar platforms Experience with graphics-intensive or compute-heavy environments Experience working with HPC clusters Experience working with SLURM Exposure to engineering or simulation software platforms Who You Are You are a structured and proactive Linux system administrator with a strong sense of ownership. You enjoy solving complex technical problems, working close to users, and improving platforms through automation and continuous improvement. You are comfortable collaborating in distributed teams and handling operational challenges in a production environment.
