About the role
We are a manpower/staffing group with multiple businesses in Australia spanning telecommunications and a digital/creative agency (advertising, web development, and digital marketing) as well as an operating entity in India.
We are looking for a Chartered Accountant to join as Assistant Finance Manager, based in Ahmedabad and reporting to the Finance Manager. You will lead our India-based finance team a (CA) Management Accountant and a Senior Account Executive review their work, and take ownership of finalisation and reporting across the Australian group and the Indian entity.
This is a review, finalisation, and team-leadership role. Day-to-day reconciliations and accounting are handled by the team; your focus is reviewing their output and owning month-end finalisation, board packs, balance sheet substantiation, payroll/superannuation review, and compliance reporting up to the Finance Manager.
Key responsibilities
- Australian group accounting, reporting and finalisation (multiple entities)
- Reviewing the day-to-day reconciliations and accounting completed by the team in MYOB and Xero, and owning month-end close across the Australian entities
- Preparing monthly board packs and management reporting for each business P&L;, balance sheet, cash flow, and commentary/variance analysis for Finance Manager review
- Full balance sheet finalisation reviewing, reconciling, and substantiating every balance sheet account with supporting workpapers (bank, receivables, payables, accruals, prepayments, fixed assets, loans, GST, and payroll liabilities)
- Handling intercompany transactions and reconciliations across the group
- Applying appropriate revenue recognition across different business models (e.g. telco plan/contract billing and deferred revenue; agency project revenue, WIP, retainers, and unbilled/deferred income)
- Preparing monthly and year-end financial statements to finalisation standard, with complete supporting workpapers
- Reviewing and finalising payroll under Single Touch Payroll (STP Phase 2), including PAYG withholding and end-of-year payroll finalisation
- Superannuation review and reconciliation, including super guarantee calculation, timely lodgement/payment, and reconciliation of super liabilities at month-end and year-end
- BAS/GST preparation, review, and lodgement support
- Ensuring compliance with Australian reporting timelines across all entities
- Indian entity oversight (manpower company)
- Overseeing the Indian accounts on a monthly basis, reviewing month-end close and books maintained by the team
- Overseeing Indian tax filings and statutory compliance: GST, TDS, PF, ESI, and Professional Tax
- Ensuring accurate, timely books, filings, and reporting to management
- Team leadership
- Leading, supervising, reviewing, and developing the India-based finance team a (CA) Management Accountant and a Senior Account Executive who support both the Australian group and the Indian entity
What we're looking for
- CA (qualified) with solid, demonstrable Australian accounting and finalisation experience
- Confidence to review and guide a small team, including a qualified CA
- Experience finalising multiple entities and comfort with intercompany transactions
- Strong experience in board pack preparation, financial statements, and balance sheet finalisation
- Hands-on working experience with MYOB (essential) and Xero
- Solid understanding of Australian payroll, superannuation, STP Phase 2, and BAS/GST
- Solid grounding in Indian statutory compliance, tax filings, and payroll
- Ability to lead and review a small team, own deadlines,
and work to reporting timelines
- Good written and spoken English
- Nice to have
- Prior experience in an Australian outsourcing/KPO setup
- Exposure to the telco, media/advertising, or staffing industries
