About the Role
We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Senior Associate to join our accounting team. This position will focus on reconciling multiple bank accounts across various entities, as well as various methods of payment at convenience stores, including credit cards, with the type of reconciliation depending on the needs of the business, while ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with internal controls. The ideal candidate will have strong analytical skills, advanced attention to detail, and the ability to work independently while collaborating with a global accounting team.
A Day in the Life of a Senior Associate
- Perform daily, weekly and monthly bank account/credit card reconciliations across multiple entities.
- Ensure the transactions of the business have been properly accounted for and accurately reflected in the financial statements.
- Analyze financial data and use independent judgment for purposes of identifying variances, when possible resolving accounting operating system issues,
compiling statistical information and developing procedures to improve current processes under the guidance of the accounting manager.
- Responsible for general ledger entries, reconciliations and financial reporting in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles and practices.
- Investigate and resolve reconciliation variances, including unidentified transactions, timing differences and posting errors.
- Coordinate with various internal teams to research discrepancies and bank/credit card items to ensure accurate transaction coding.
- Ensure compliance with internal control requirements and SOX requirements.
- Interfaces frequently with various levels within the organization.
What You Need to Succeed
- Bachelors degree in accounting/finance preferred.
- 5-7 years of accounting experience, preferably with a focus on balance sheet account reconciliations.
- Strong understanding of general ledger accounting and reconciliation principles.
- Proficient in the utilization of Microsoft Office products (Excel, Word, Teams and Outlook).
- Ability to multi-task and complete projects within specific deadlines.
- Experience completing detailed accounting schedules.
- Ability to handle and reconcile large amounts of detailed transactions.
- High level of accuracy, attention to detail, and strong organizational skills.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal with the ability to coordinate with international teams.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Detail oriented with excellent time management skills
- Ability to work flexible schedule to accommodate cross time zone collaboration.
