We are seeking an experienced Shopify Lead to drive the architecture, design, and execution of enterprise‑grade e‑commerce solutions on Shopify and Shopify Plus. This role combines technical leadership, hands‑on delivery, and team mentorship, ensuring scalable, secure, and high‑performance Shopify implementations aligned with business objectives.
The ideal candidate is a hands‑on technologist and strategic thinker with deep Shopify expertise and a proven track record of leading complex digital commerce projects end‑to‑end.
Requirements
- Lead the architecture, customization, and development of advanced Shopify Plus storefronts and ecosystems.
- Define and enforce technical standards, best practices, and coding guidelines across Shopify initiatives.
- Collaborate with UI/UX, Product, Marketing, Operations, and Engineering teams to translate business needs into scalable technical solutions.
- Own the full delivery lifecycle of Shopify projects—design, development, testing, deployment, and post‑launch optimization.
- Design, develop, and integrate custom Shopify apps and third‑party services (ERP, CRM, OMS, payment gateways, analytics).
- Build and enhance Search & Discovery solutions, including custom app development for advanced search, filtering, and merchandising (mandatory).
- Drive performance optimization, SEO best practices, and security compliance across all Shopify storefronts.
- Mentor and guide development teams; conduct code reviews, training sessions, and knowledge sharing.
- Evaluate new Shopify releases, tools, and ecosystem updates to continuously improve platforms and workflows.
- Serve as the technical point of contact for Shopify‑related discussions with stakeholders, clients, and leadership.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field.
- 10+ years of total backend development experience, with minimum 5+ years dedicated to Shopify / Shopify Plus.
- Expert‑level proficiency in backend technologies including:
- Node.js, JavaScript (ES6+), TypeScript
- Ruby (Shopify ecosystem)
- Python (integrations & automation)
- Java (enterprise middleware)
- SQL, GraphQL
- Strong experience with REST APIs, GraphQL, Shopify Admin APIs, and integrations.
- Proven track record building custom Shopify apps (public & private) using Node.js, Express, or Laravel.
- Deep knowledge of Search & Discovery, Shopify Plus capabilities, multi‑store setups, localization, and internationalization.
- Hands‑on experience with DevOps practices, Git, CI/CD pipelines, and deployment management.
- Demonstrated ability to lead teams, manage code reviews, and deliver within tight timelines.
- Strong problem‑solving, analytical, and decision‑making skills.
- Mandatory: Ability to design and build a custom Search & Discovery app/module for Shopify.
Good to Have / Preferred Skills
- Experience with Shopify Hydrogen, Oxygen, or headless commerce architectures.
- Familiarity with modern frontend frameworks such as React, Vue.js, or Next.js.
- Exposure to data‑driven marketing and optimization tools (Klaviyo, Segment, GTM, etc.).
- Strong understanding of SEO, performance tuning, and analytics integration for Shopify stores.
- Prior experience working in agency environments or with enterprise‑scale e‑commerce clients.
