The Quality Controller is responsible for ensuring that all steel and fabricated components meet the company’s and client’s quality standards. This includes inspection of raw materials, in -process items, and finished goods, as well as adherence to relevant codes and specifications (e.g., AWS, ASME, ISO, etc.). The Quality Controller will play a key role in minimizing defects, supporting continuous improvement, and maintaining documentation and traceability.
Key Responsibilities:
ï· Inspect raw materials, welding processes, and finished fabricated products to ensure compliance with specified standards and client requirements.
ï· Monitor production processes and conduct in -process inspections to identify deviations from quality standards.
ï· Interpret engineering drawings, welding procedures (WPS), and inspection criteria.
ï· Prepare inspection reports, non -conformance reports (NCRs), and maintain detailed quality records.
ï· Verify dimensional accuracy using tools such as micrometers, vernier calipers, and gauges.
ï· Conduct visual inspections and, if certified, NDT techniques (e.g., PT, MT, UT).
ï· Liaise with welding inspectors, fabrication supervisors, and clients during inspections and audits.
ï· Monitor welding consumables, traceability, and welders’ performance.
ï· Participate in root cause analysis and corrective/preventive actions (CAPA).
ï· Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental policies related to quality practices.
Requirements
Diploma or Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related technical discipline.
ï· Minimum 3–5 years of experience in a quality control role within a steel or
heavy fabrication setting.
ï· Familiarity with welding standards and fabrication codes (AWS D1.1, ASME
Section IX, ISO 9001, etc.).
ï· Knowledge of NDT methods; certification in PT, MT, or UT is an added
advantage.
ï· Proficient in the use of inspection instruments and measuring tools.
ï· Strong analytical, communication, and documentation skills.
ï· Computer literate – MS Office, report generation, digital inspection records
