DESCRIPTION The Alexa Smart Home Cameras team is seeking an experienced software development engineer The ideal candidate is an innovative self-starter who is looking for an opportunity to be both an individual contributor and technical lead Alexa Smart Home Cameras team enables Alexa with a sense of sight around customers homes with innovative experiences like Alexa show the front door or other ambient features like automatic announcements with a live view of cameras where compelling events person package doorbell were detected We provide a suite of APIs for 1P Ring Blink and 3P partners to integrate with and enable these capabilities for their cameras We achieve this by developing technology across Computer Vision media streaming real-time communication and the Alexa app Our customers are end-consumers who want to use Alexa-enabled devices to simplify their experiences with their smart home cameras and doorbells as well as the developers that make the devices like Ring Arlo Nest and Wyze Key job responsibilities As a Software Development Engineer on the Cameras team you will lead the technical aspects of core Cameras customer experience on Echo FireTV devices and engage with experienced cross-disciplinary teams to design implement and bring to market innovative products and features You must be responsive flexible and able to succeed within an open collaborative peer environment The position involves software development on the device side specifically BASIC QUALIFICATIONS 3 years of non-internship professional software development experience 2 years of non-internship design or architecture design patterns reliability and scaling of new and existing systems experience Experience programming with at least one software programming language Candidates with device side experience are preferred Candidates are expected to show proficiency in Front End development using ReactNative Javascript Candidates are expected to be proficient in either Java or C PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS 3 years of full software development life cycle including coding standards code reviews source control management build processes testing and operations experience Bachelor s degree in computer science or equivalent Candidates with experience on multiplatform environments preferred iOS Android and Linux Our inclusive culture empowers Amazonians to deliver the best results for our customers If you have a disability and need a workplace accommodation or adjustment during the application and hiring process including support for the interview or onboarding process please visit https amazon jobs content en how-we-hire accommodations for more information If the country region you re applying in isn t listed please contact your Recruiting Partner
