Over the last 20 years Ares success has been driven by our people and our culture Today our team is guided by our core values - Collaborative Responsible Entrepreneurial Self-Aware Trustworthy - and our purpose to be a catalyst for shared prosperity and a better future Through our recruitment career development and employee-focused programming we are committed to fostering a welcoming and inclusive work environment where high-performance talent of diverse backgrounds experiences and perspectives can build careers within this exciting and growing industry Primary functions and essential responsibilities Responsibilities include Supervise and develop staff with demonstrated ability to work with others through challenges and career development while providing ongoing training and feedback Perform detailed review of quarterly investment report valuations including valuation gains and losses Prepare or review of journal entries and the quarterly close processes including producing original workpapers and analyses Prepare and review and financial statements for complex fund vehicles including waterfall allocations Coordinate cash management with accounting team Prepare or review investor capital call and distribution calculations Draft and coordinate the fund amendment and extension consent process Prepare and assist with ad-hoc limited partner reporting analysis and other requests Coordinate with external auditors to ensure audit deadlines are met qualifications Education CPA recommended B S degree in Accounting or Finance MBA or CFA a plus Experience Required 10 years of experience working at Private Equity or Private Real Estate firm strongly desired with at least 7 total years of related financial experience which may include public accounting General Requirements Working understanding of waterfall allocations Advanced computer skills including Microsoft Office eFront Software and reporting skills a plus Solid management team skills including staff development Strong relationship building skills with internal business clients Strong management skills including proven experience of managing and or collaborating with teams in remote locations to ensure efficiency effectiveness Ability to work independently within a fast-paced environment with a hands-on approach Dependable outstanding attitude highly motivated and a team player Reporting Relationships Assistant ControllerThere is no set deadline to apply for this job opportunity Applications will be accepted on an ongoing basis until the search is no longer active
