Job Title - US Payroll &
- Accounting Manager

Job Summary The US Payroll &
- Accounting Manager is responsible for overseeing end-to-end payroll operations for US employees while managing accounting activities related to payroll, general ledger, reconciliations, month-end close, compliance, and financial reporting. This role ensures accurate and timely payroll processing, adherence to federal and state regulations, and alignment between payroll and accounting records. The position partners closely with HR, Finance, Tax, and external service providers.
Key Responsibilities
Payroll Management
Manage end-to-end payroll processing for US employees on a weekly, bi-weekly, semi-monthly, or monthly basis.
Review payroll inputs including new hires, terminations, promotions, bonuses, commissions, and deductions.
Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulations.
Oversee payroll tax calculations, filings, and remittances.
Manage year-end payroll activities including W-2 processing and reconciliation.
Coordinate with payroll vendors and service providers to resolve payroll issues.
Ensure accurate processing of employee benefits, garnishments, retirement contributions, and other deductions.
Address employee payroll inquiries and escalations.
Accounting &
- Financial Operations
Prepare and review payroll-related journal entries.
Reconcile payroll accounts, perks accounts, and payroll tax accounts.
Maintain payroll-related general ledger accounts and supporting schedules.
Support month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close activities.
Analyze payroll expenses, accruals, and variances.
Ensure payroll expenses are accurately allocated across departments, cost centers, and entities.
Support internal and external audits by providing payroll and accounting documentation.
Compliance &
- Controls
Maintain compliance with US labor laws, payroll tax regulations, and accounting standards.
Implement and monitor payroll controls to ensure data accuracy and fraud prevention.
Support SOX compliance and audit requirements where applicable.
Stay updated on payroll legislation and regulatory changes impacting payroll operations.
Reporting &
- Analysis
Generate payroll and workforce cost reports for management.
Prepare payroll-related reconciliations and financial analyses.
Support budgeting and forecasting activities related to compensation and benefits.
Provide payroll metrics and insights to Finance and HR leadership.
Process Improvement
Identify opportunities to automate payroll and accounting processes.
Improve payroll controls, workflows, and reporting capabilities.
Participate in payroll system implementations, upgrades, and testing.
Develop and maintain payroll policies, procedures, and documentation.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, Business Administration, or related field.
710 years of payroll and accounting experience, including US payroll management.
Strong knowledge of US payroll regulations, payroll taxes, and wage laws.
Experience with payroll systems such as ADP, Workday, Ceridian Dayforce, Paychex, UKG, or similar platforms.
Solid understanding of General Ledger accounting and month-end close processes.
Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
Experience managing payroll audits and compliance requirements.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in multinational organizations and shared service environments.
Knowledge of SOX controls and compliance requirements.
Experience with ERP systems such as Oracle, SAP, NetSuite, or Microsoft Dynamics.
