Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Freight Dispatcher to manage, coordinate, and optimize our day-today freight operations. In this role, you will act as the primary liaison between drivers, clients, shipping locations, and brokers to ensure safe, timely, and cost-effective transportation of goods. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced environment, excels at problem-solving under pressure, and possesses strong negotiation and communication skills. Key Responsibilities

Scheduling & Route Planning: Assign shipments, plan optimal delivery routes, and schedule driver pickup/delivery appointments to maximize fleet efficiency and minimize empty miles.

Dispatch & Fleet Monitoring: Serve as the central point of contact for drivers en route. Monitor real-time GPS tracking and update shipment status in the Transportation Management System (TMS).

Rate Negotiation & Load Sourcing: Source available loads through load boards or direct clients, and negotiate competitive freight rates with brokers and carriers.

Issue Resolution: Proactively manage delay notifications, weather disruptions, breakdown assistance, and delivery conflicts to maintain high service levels.

Compliance & Safety: Ensure drivers adhere to Hours of Service (HOS), Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations,



and FMCSA safety standards.

Documentation & Billing: Review and track essential paperwork, including Bills of Lading (BOL), Rate Confirmations, Proof of Delivery (POD), and fuel/expense receipts.

Customer Communication: Provide clients with timely delivery updates, track-and-trace information, and handle rate/order inquiries professionally.

Qualifications & Requirements

Education: High school diploma or equivalent (Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain, or Business Administration preferred).

Experience: 1–3+ years of experience as a Freight Dispatcher Technical Skills:

Proficiency with Transportation Management Systems (TMS) and load boards (DAT, Truckstop, etc.).

Working knowledge of GPS tracking tools and route-planning software.

Solid skills in MS Office (Excel, Word) and data entry.

Industry Knowledge: Understanding of DOT/FMCSA rules, Hours of Service (HOS), and transport documentation. Soft Skills:

On-Time Delivery (OTD) percentage.
