Unit/ Site Head Operations – Chemical Manufacturing Plant

Purpose of the Role:

Leads all plant functions, including production, EHS (Workplace, Health, and Safety), engineering, quality, and maintenance. The role ensures safe, compliant, and profitable manufacturing operations, driving output targets, cost optimization, and strict adherence to statutory and environmental regulation.

Key Responsibilities:

Operations & Manufacturing

- Lead end-to-end manufacturing operations across all plants and production units.
- Ensure achievement of production targets, plant uptime, yield, quality, and cost objectives.
- Optimize manufacturing processes for productivity, efficiency, and profitability.
- Develop and implement operational KPIs and performance monitoring systems.




- Drive lean manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives.

Process Safety & EHS

- Ensure full compliance with process safety management systems and EHS regulations.
- Promote strong safety culture with focus on: PSM, HAZOP, LOPA, SIL compliance, MOC, PSSR, LOTO
- Ensure compliance with local and international environmental regulations.
- Lead incident investigations and corrective action implementation.

Engineering & Maintenance

- Oversee maintenance reliability and asset integrity programs.
- Ensure preventive and predictive maintenance systems are implemented effectively.
- Drive reduction in downtime and improve equipment reliability.
- Supervise capex projects, plant expansions, and technology upgrades.

Supply Chain & Commercial Coordination

- Coordinate with procurement, logistics, and sales teams for uninterrupted operations.
- Monitor inventory, raw material availability, and production planning.
- Support commercial strategy through operational capability and cost optimization.

Financial & Strategic Management

- Manage operational budgets and cost-control initiatives.
- Improve EBITDA through operational efficiency and process optimization.
- Participate in strategic planning, mergers, expansions, and new business initiatives.
- Support board-level reporting and business reviews.

Quality & Compliance

- Ensure compliance with ISO, GMP, Responsible Care, or other applicable standards.
- Oversee quality assurance and quality control systems.




- Maintain strong audit readiness for regulatory and customer inspections.

Leadership & Organizational Development

- Build and mentor high-performance leadership teams.
- Develop succession planning and workforce capability.
- Foster accountability, discipline, and operational excellence culture.

Preferred candidate profile 1. B. Tech in Chemical Engineering (mandatory) and MBA or advanced management qualification preferred with 15-20 years of experience in chemical/process manufacturing Industry is a must.

2. Experience in one or more of the following: Specialty chemicals, Petrochemicals, Agrochemicals, Bromine / chlor-alkali / inorganic chemicals, Fertilizers, Industrial salts & minerals, Hazardous chemical manufacturing

3. Minimum 5-10 years in senior leadership roles

4. Experience managing hazardous chemical manufacturing operations preferred

5. Strong leadership and people management

6. Deep understanding of chemical process operations

7. Process safety expertise

8. Financial and commercial acumen

9. Strategic thinking

10. Crisis management capability

11. Negotiation and stakeholder management

12. Strong analytical and decision-making skills
