Role Description This is a full time, on-site role for a Traffic Engineer – Transportation Planning based in Pune City. The role involves conducting traffic and transportation studies, including data collection, demand forecasting, capacity analysis, and level-of-service assessments for urban and regional networks.
The Traffic
Engineer will prepare and review transport modeling, feasibility studies, and impact assessments, and contribute to multimodal transportation plans that integrate roads, transit, pedestrian, and cycling infrastructure.
Day-to-day responsibilities include developing technical drawings and reports, coordinating with planning, urban design, and infrastructure teams, and supporting the formulation of transport policies and design standards in line with local and international best practices. The role also includes participating in client meetings, presenting findings, supporting project management activities, and ensuring that all deliverables meet quality, safety, and sustainability requirements.
Qualifications
- Strong foundation in traffic engineering and transportation planning, including traffic analysis, demand forecasting, and multimodal network planning.
- Proficiency in relevant software tools (e.g., traffic simulation and modeling platforms, GIS, and CAD) for analysis, mapping, and design documentation.
- Ability to prepare clear technical reports, presentations, and drawings, and to communicate complex findings to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Knowledge of applicable transport design standards, guidelines, and regulations, with an understanding of sustainable and integrated mobility solutions.
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Transportation Engineering, Urban/Transportation Planning, or a related field; postgraduate qualifications are an advantage.
- Demonstrated experience in traffic studies or transportation planning projects, preferably within consulting or multidisciplinary project environments.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and quantitative skills, with attention to detail and ability to work on multiple projects and deadlines.
