We are looking for a Technical Project Manager to own the day-to-day delivery execution of the programme. You will act as Scrum Master for the engineering squad, own defect and risk tracking, manage dependencies across workstreams, and serve as the single point of contact for project status and timelines. You have a technical background and are comfortable navigating engineering conversations — understanding enough to identify blockers early, escalate the right issues, and keep the team moving without being a bottleneck.
Key Responsibilities
Scrum Master & Sprint Delivery
- Run all sprint ceremonies — sprint planning, daily standups, sprint reviews, and retrospectives — keeping them focused and time-boxed.
- Maintain the sprint board and ensure it accurately reflects the state of work at all times.
- Track sprint velocity, flag capacity risks early, and work with the squad to adjust scope before timelines slip.
- Remove impediments blocking team members and escalate to programme leadership when resolution requires external intervention.
- Ensure engineering commitments made in sprint planning are realistic and that the squad is held accountable to them.
Defect & Bug Management
- Own the defect tracking process end to end — logging, triaging, prioritising, assigning, and tracking bugs through to resolution.
- Produce regular defect status reports for programme leadership, clearly communicating open items, severity, and resolution timelines.
- Work with the QA Engineer to ensure defects are correctly categorised and that high-severity issues are escalated and resolved within agreed SLAs.
- Maintain a clear view of technical debt and recurring defect patterns, flagging systemic issues to the Solutions Architect.
Timeline & Milestone Management
- Own the programme delivery plan — maintaining a clear view of milestones, dependencies, and critical path at all times.
- Track progress against milestones and produce timely, accurate status reports for REIL programme owners.
- Identify risks to timelines early and work with the squad to develop mitigation plans before they become delivery issues.
- Manage cross-dependencies — ensuring that handoffs between engineering streams, QA, and external stakeholders happen on time.
Reporting & Stakeholder Communication
- Serve as the single point of contact for all project status queries.
- Produce clear, concise status updates — covering progress, risks, decisions needed, and upcoming milestones — on a regular cadence.
- Maintain programme documentation — decision logs, risk registers, action trackers, and sprint records — keeping them current and accessible.
- Flag issues that require decisions from programme leadership promptly, with sufficient context for a quick decision to be made.
Technical Coordination
- Coordinate across engineering workstreams to ensure integration points are planned, tested, and delivered on time.
- Understand enough of the technical landscape to have informed conversations with engineers, identify when estimates are unrealistic, and know which blockers require escalation.
- Work with the Solutions Architect and Product Manager to ensure the delivery plan reflects both technical and product priorities accurately.
Required Qualifications Education
- B.E. / B.Tech in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. PMP, CSM, or equivalent certification is an advantage.
Experience
- 5+ years of project management experience with at least 3 years managing technical software or AI/ML engineering teams.
- Proven experience as a Scrum Master on agile engineering teams in a fast-paced delivery setting.
- Background in software engineering or a closely related technical discipline — sufficient to understand the work the squad is doing and identify risks early.
- Experience managing defect lifecycles and producing structured reporting for senior stakeholders.
Technical Skills
- Agile Tooling: Jira, Linear, or equivalent for sprint and defect tracking; Confluence or equivalent for documentation.
- Reporting: Experience producing clear programme status reports, risk registers, and milestone trackers for senior audiences.
- Technical Literacy: Comfortable reading engineering tickets, understanding architecture diagrams, and participating meaningfully in technical discussions without driving them.
- Agile Frameworks: Strong working knowledge of Scrum; familiarity with Kanban and SAFe is a plus.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience managing AI, ML, or data platform programmes.
- Experience working on programmes with complex third-party or government system integrations.
- Prior work in fintech, compliance, or similarly regulated environments where delivery rigour and documentation standards are high.
- Experience coordinating between technical squads and non-technical business stakeholders simultaneously.
