Technical Co-Founder — SpaceTech | Microwave WPT | RF, Antennas & Phased Arrays Location: Bengaluru / India
Commitment: Full-time, all-in
Compensation: 25–30% founder equity | No salary initially About Urja Dart
Urja Dart is building far-field microwave wireless power transfer (WPT) systems: transmitting energy through directed microwave beams and receiving it through high-efficiency antenna / rectenna systems.
We are developing a microwave-to-rectenna prototype toward a long-range terrestrial demonstration. Power-electronics capability is already in the team; we are seeking a co-founder to own the microwave, RF, antenna, phased-array, and end-to-end WPT link. The current founder is a repeat SpaceTech entrepreneur who previously received a $2.5 million pre-seed funding commitment, bringing prior fundraising experience, investor access, and execution perspective to Urja Dart. What You’ll Build
You will lead the complete microwave WPT journey:
Microwave source → RF power amplification → RF distribution / phase control → transmitting antenna or phased array → directed beam → free-space propagation → receiving antenna / rectenna → usable DC power
Key responsibilities
Define WPT architecture, frequency, link budget, aperture sizing, beam width, power-density and end-to-end efficiency targets
Develop microwave transmitter systems: RF sources, PLLs, PAs/SSPAs, RF power combining, filters, couplers, feed networks, thermal and protection systems
Design transmitting antennas, high-gain arrays, phased arrays, beamforming and electronic beam-steering systems
Lead beam pointing, phase calibration, polarization, sidelobe control,
radiation-pattern testing, and transmitter-array optimization
Design receiving antenna and rectenna arrays: antenna elements, impedance matching, RF combining, harmonic control, receiver capture, array coupling, and misalignment tolerance
Model propagation, beam spread, path loss, pointing error, multipath, safety, RF exposure, and spectrum/EMC constraints
Take systems from CST/HFSS/ADS simulation to PCB/antenna fabrication, RF measurements, field testing, debugging, and iteration
Work with our power-electronics teammate on the antenna-to-rectifier interface, rectification, DC combining, regulation, and delivered power Who We’re Looking For
Ideally, you have 5+ years in microwave/RF engineering, antenna systems, phased arrays, radar, Satcom, aerospace RF, electronic warfare, defense systems, telecom, or WPT. This is preferred—not mandatory for an exceptional hands-on builder.
You should have strong depth in several of these areas:
Microwave transmitters, RF power amplifiers, high-power RF, RF front ends, microwave circuits, RF power combining
Antennas, antenna arrays, patch/slot arrays, high-gain apertures, feed networks, polarization, and antenna measurements
Phased arrays, beamforming, electronic steering, phase/amplitude control, calibration, beam shaping,
and sidelobe management
RF propagation, EM simulation, link budgets, RF test and calibration, EMC/EMI, spectrum, or RF safety
Rectennas, RF energy harvesting, RF-to-DC matching, microwave rectification, or WPT experience is a strong advantage—not a requirement
Experience with CST, HFSS, ADS, AWR, MATLAB/Python, and RF lab equipment such as VNA, spectrum analyzer, signal generator, power meter, directional couplers, and antenna-test setups is highly valuable.
We welcome engineers and researchers returning to India from abroad, as well as professionals with ISRO, DRDO, defense-lab, aerospace, national-lab, Satcom, telecom-R&D;, or advanced RF-company backgrounds. The Commitment
This is a genuine co-founder role—not a part time experiment, advisory position, or conventional RF job.
25–30% equity, based on expertise, contribution, and commitment
No salary at this stage, at least have 1 year of runway to survive.
Full-time, all-in commitment required
All employment, confidentiality, security, and IP obligations must be respected Apply
