India Tax Roles – Elevate LLC (Partner Firm Opportunities)

All roles below support U.S.-based tax engagements for Elevate partner firms and work closely with onshore tax teams.
Role – Tax Supervisor (Future Opportunities)
Experience Level: Senior-Level (6–8 years)
Work Schedule: 3:00 PM IST – 12:00 AM IST (4:30 AM EST – 1:00 PM EST).
Location: Ahmedabad, India (Office / Hybrid).
Overview The Tax Supervisor oversees the day-to-day operations of the India-based tax team, serving as the primary bridge between our onshore U.S. partners and the offshore delivery team. This role carries full accountability for the quality, accuracy, and timely delivery of complex tax engagements—spanning C-Corporations (1120), S-Corporations (1120S), Partnerships (1065), and Individual (1040) engagements—while actively developing the team’s technical capabilities and building trust with U.S. counterparts. The ideal candidate combines deep U.S. tax & accounting expertise with strong leadership instincts, and a collaborative mindset.
Key Responsibilities
Tax Preparation & Review
- Prepare and review complex federal and state income tax returns for C-Corporations (1120), S-Corporations (1120S), Partnerships (1065), and Individual (1040) returns, ensuring accuracy and full tax law compliance.
- Review book-to-tax reconciliations and supporting workpapers prepared by Staff and Senior Associates across both federal and state jurisdictions.
- Identify and reflect potential adjustments arising from tax law changes in workpapers and returns.
- Oversee e-file validation of returns and lead resolution of complex diagnostics prior to submission.
Team Leadership & Development
- Train new joiners and existing team members on U.S.
tax concepts, technology platforms, and engagement-specific procedures.
- Provide timely, constructive feedback on reviewed work, along with clear directions on areas for improvement and growth.
- Actively create opportunities for team members to develop secondary skills and cross-functional expertise.
Collaboration & Engagement
- Lead weekly and bi-monthly calls with the India tax team, ensuring alignment on priorities, timelines, and engagement status.
- Maintain seamless communication with U.S. points of contact and coordinate regularly with schedulers to keep the team fully utilized and return statuses current.
- Support Staff and Senior Associates in resolving tax issues and removing roadblocks to on-time delivery.
Quality & Turnaround
- Own overall quality and turnaround of all returns handled by the team, setting and enforcing high standards at every stage of the engagement.
- Adhere to organizational policies, quality frameworks, and best practices across all deliverables.
- Always ensure strict compliance with information security protocols and data protection guidelines.
Hiring & Organizational Growth
- Participate in the hiring and interview screening process as needed, helping identify and place strong candidates for the tax team.
- Contribute to firm-wide projects and initiatives that support operational growth.
Skills Required
- Advanced technical knowledge of U.S. federal and state tax laws, with deep expertise in C-Corporation (1120), S-Corporation (1120S), Partnership (1065), and Individual (1040) taxation.
- Solid understanding of how bookkeeping and financial statements feed into the tax return,
including the ability to close trial balances and perform complex book-to-tax reconciliations.
- Proficiency in tax software such as CCH Axcess, GoSystem, UltraTax, or Lacerte (CCH Axcess preferred), including e-file validation and diagnostics resolution.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and QuickBooks.
- Excellent communication and drafting skills.
- Demonstrated ability to plan, prioritize, and manage multiple engagements.
- High personal integrity, professional objectivity, and a strong sense of client confidentiality.
- Independent problem-solving, with the ability to identify issues and work through them with minimal oversight.
- Quality and timeliness, delivering accurate, complete work on schedule.
- Collaborative mindset with the ability to work independently and lead a team—comfortable operating in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
Qualifications
- 6-8 years of U.S. taxation experience with a solid focus on C-Corporation (1120), S-Corporation (1120S), Partnership (1065), and Individual (1040) returns in a public accounting firm.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Commerce, Finance, or a related field; CA/CPA/EA or pursuing preferred.
- In-depth knowledge of U.S. federal & state tax laws.
- Prior experience in an offshore or nearshore delivery model, with a track record of managing teams and engaging directly with U.S. clients or counterparts.
- Comfortable working in prescribed shift hours, including extended hours during peak tax season.
