Job Summary The Veeam Backup Engineer is responsible for designing, implementing, and managing enterprise backup and recovery solutions using Veeam. The role ensures data protection, high availability, and disaster recovery readiness across on-premises and cloud environments.

Key Responsibilities

- Design, implement, and manage Veeam Backup &
- Replication solutions
- Configure and maintain backup jobs for: Virtual environments (VMware, Hyper-V)
- Physical servers and endpoints
- Cloud workloads (Azure, AWS – if applicable)
- Monitor backup jobs and troubleshoot failures to ensure high success rates
- Perform backup verification and regular restore testing (file-level, VM-level, full recovery)
- Manage replication and disaster recovery configurations (DR drills, failover/failback)
- Optimize backup performance, storage utilization, and retention policies




- Integrate Veeam with storage systems (SAN, NAS, Object Storage) and cloud repositories
- Handle incidents, requests, and L2/L3 escalations related to backup and recovery
- Maintain documentation, SOPs, and backup architecture diagrams
- Ensure compliance with data protection policies and audit requirements
- Coordinate with infrastructure, cloud, and application teams

Skill Requirements

Backup Technologies

Robust hands-on experience with: Veeam Backup &

- Replication
- Veeam ONE (monitoring – preferred)
- Veeam Cloud Connect (optional)

Platforms

- Virtualization: VMware vSphere, Microsoft Hyper-V
- Operating Systems: Windows &
- Linux servers
- Basic cloud integration knowledge (Azure/AWS backup concepts)

Storage &

- DR

Knowledge of: SAN/NAS storage

- Backup repositories and retention policies
- Disaster Recovery concepts (RPO, RTO)

Other Requirements

Other Skills

Understanding of networking basics (IP, DNS, firewall rules)

- Exposure to scripting (PowerShell – preferred)
- Familiarity with ticketing tools (ServiceNow, Remedy)
